Lindsay Lohan Set To Appear On Ellen

Guys, I’m really sorry about this Linds news every single day.  You know how I feel about her, but these stories just keep popping up and I’m afraid that if I don’t report them, Beet will punish me by making me watch a twenty-four hour-long compilation DVD of the works of Julia Roberts, or something as equally horrific.

Anyway, Ellen DeGeneres and wife Portia de Rossi, or Double De as they are affectionately called by me, attended the 20th Annual GLAAD Media Awards in which Ellen won Outstanding Talk Show Episode for the episode of Ellen that featured Ellen and Portia’s wedding.  Ellen told Access Hollywood, “We didn’t register, so this is nice. We get an award!”

She also let it be known that Lindsay Lohan is set to appear on Ellen.  “I’m excited. I want to hear what Lindsay has to say and [I] hope she gets back to her career.  She seems to be reaching out to people lately… I hope she’s OK… she’s so talented.  I’m going to ask her what’s going on and let her have a platform to speak.”

Can someone, anyone, please explain to me just how talented Lindsay Lohan is?  I’m not kidding right now, I’m open to learning.  What production, done within the last five years (because we cannot allow Linds to still be riding on the hair extensions coattails of Parent Trap), has Lindsay appeared in and been “so talented,”?  I respect Ellen a lot both as a human and as a comedienne so I’m sure she’s right and I’m just overlooking some body of work.  And if Lindsay was good in something, I really need to watch whatever it was so I can be more educated on this loved and hated girl.  Call it research for the job.

I’ve got two open slots on my Netflix queue right now.  Tell me what Lohan masterpiece I need to order up.  Go.

  • I hear that little movie Mean Girls did pretty well…
    It did gross 129 mil.
And was in the last 5 years (barely, but still)

    …Well I loved it.

  • Mean Girls! It was written by Tina Fey. It’s a pretty awesome movie, even my husband liked it and he hates girly movies and La Lohan.

I also didn’t mind “Confessions of a teenage drama queen”.

I am pretty critical when it come to movies and hate most girly movies I watch but these two were quite watchable.

  • Yeah Mean Girls is about it, but I think that movie did so well and is so funny because of everyone but Lindsay. Rachel McAdams was awesome, Tina Fey WROTE it, Amy Poehler was hysterical as the crazy Mom, Lizzy Caplan and the guy who played Damian always carried the scenes with the 3 of them and Amanda Seyfried had some great lines. Lohan was basically the narrator of the film, not the comedic genius behind it. Plus if that was her only hit/talent source in the last 5 years, I still don’t see much to rave about. Her other “hits” were Freaky Friday, Georgia Rule, Herbie Fully Loaded, Confessions of a Drama Queen and I Know Who Killed Me. Freaky Friday is the only decent one of the bunch. I am with you Wendie, where exactly is her talent that I am supposed to rave over?

I’d say if anyone we should praise Rachel McAdams for her role on Mean Girls, and she has done a lot more with her time since.

  • I’m glad everyone agrees mean girls was her best. I’m not sure if i’ve seen anything else (except parent trap) by linds but i liked mean girls so much i don’t mind her hanging around hollywood.

      • That was actually why it tanked.
B/c the character was so much like what she was doing in her own life at the time, that people didn’t think she was acting at all. But if you watch it objectively, forget all the LiLo drama, you can tell that the girl can act. That was a great movie – definitely a recommendation.

    • Georgia Rule was actually really good.
To be completely honest, it made me cry.
She definitely did a fantastic job in that.
She was also really good in A Prairie Home Companion.
I think that she does a lot of work, but none of it gets noticed.
She did Bobby, which had a great cast.
And Chapter 27, though she had a small role, she played it well.
And Jared Leto was phenomenal in it.
      Mean Girls was clever.
      Freaky Friday was cute,
As was Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen.
      And Just My Luck.
The last three were cute, fun simple movies.
I feel that she has done a lot of good work but it is over-shadowed by her personal life.

  • i know who killed me is worth a watch because it’s so HORRIBLE. but it’s not so bad it’s good bad.

  • yes i agree
    mean girls & georgia rule
also may wanna check out the first 4 or 5 episodes of this seasons
ugly betty if it’s avail. i think it’s season #3…

  • Her Funny or Die eHarmony ad has been her recent best. Mean Girls was a group effort (i.e., what Rachel said).

  • “Prairie Home Companion” is the only movie I’ve ever liked her in. That was about… 3 years ago? I think.

  • She did that movie a year or so ago with Elijah Wood about Bobby Kennedy or something? And she did Chapter 27 with JAred Leto about the guy who killed Lennon, but her role was really small in that. Watch Freaky Friday. It’s silly but she is a good actress.

    Mean Girls is awesome.

Georgia Rule-eh. I dont remember the ending even, but worth a look.

I know who killed me is just ridiculously bad, she couldnt do anything with it. but it wasnt her that was bad.

  • Definately watch Mean Girls, and you should also go watch her SNL skits on youtube. Oh and Freaky Friday was pretty funny too. before her personal life overshadowed it, she had some good things going for her. I think she had a lot of potential (that has since been wasted). She’s got great comedic timing.

  • aside from mean girls, as clearly has already been said…

she was amazing in both bobby and a prairie home companion. girl held up to meryl, that’s all i have to say about that.

  • Lindsay was talented. I don’t know if she still will be because of how f*cked up she is after taking all those drugs… but still.

Georgia Rule. I watched it like 5 times (thats the first time I have admitted that)

  • I don’t think she is talented. Her eHarmony skit was lame, she read right off off of cue cards. Didn’t even make me smirk. Georgia Rule was boring and Mean Girls can be accredited to the one with talent, Tina Fey.
All she does is shop, party, and throw fits. She doesn’t seem to do any good in her days here. She can’t even help herself or recognize what a flake she is. She’s a loser.

  • …this has nothing to do with Lindsey but….how do I get my hair into one of those fishbone braids???

  • Mean girl was so god! It’s my favorite movie, haha :D. It was all girly but sarcastic at the same time… I loved it! But I know, Lindsay’s a trainwreck now :/. Too bad! She was funny, good actress, and she had a great sense of humor. I hope she’ll get back to the old days.

  • By the way, dear Evil Beet, you should put on a “Remember Me” button or some “Remember Me” option. It is so annoying to write my name, e-mail and website every time I try to leave a comment :).

    Love the site. xo :)

  • Mean Girls, Georgia Rule and Freaky Friday. I like most of her films but these are my faves. I think if she just put all of the effort of partying into her work she could be great.

  • WTH just mentioned 3 very good movies Lindsey has been in. Georgia Rule is my favorite!! The only bad thing is, if you don’t like Lindsay Lohan you probably won’t like her movies because you will go into the movie with this in the back of your mind. If you watch her movies, you should ignore your bad feelings about her and give her movies a chance.

  • Mean girls, Georgia Rule that is a very good movie and i think is under-rated, prairie home companion w/ Meryl Streep.

The thing with Lindsay is that her personal life overshadows her filming career but she’s still very young she’s only 22 so i can understand her journey to find who she truly is.

  • OMG, I am so excited to see this! Ellen is actually sticking up for Lindsay by doing this, and her opinion is valued. Hopefully this helps her comeback which I’m sure is coming soon.

As for her movies, I can’t even think of one that was bad, even I Know Who Killed Me. There’s a line in there where she screams “Do I look like I’m in a fucking coma!” Its classic!

  • Well, since most have hit all the movies (and there were a lot more in major roles than I think people realize & Georgie Rule was perfectly played) I’ll mention something different.
Hit up Youtube and check out her music vids…my fav was First from the Herbie soundtrack. With her reputation and the irony of the chorus, “I want to come first” being in a Disney movie has to make you laugh out loud. Another good one is her Drama Queen video, definitely fits her and she’s adorable in it. Daughter to Father had some good lyrics.
Be sure to also take into account that she’s modeling and on a magazing cover almost every other month. She’s the frontperson for Fornarina this spring, she launched the leggins line that sold out, she just launched the spray tan line, and her new movie will be coming out in July. She’s jam-packed with talent. She might need more focus, but she always gets it done.
