Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester became engaged to actor Sebastian Stan this weekend. I’d like to tell you why this relationship is going to fail. Not because she’s only 22. Not because, even though they only met last year, the media is referring to them as “long-term.” Not because she’s on a hit show and no one really knows who he is. Not because they made their announcement on their Facebook pages. The reason this union is destined for failure is this. Though the media is highlighting his two-episode appearance on GG (which is how the two met), his most high-profile role is that of “the guy” in a Hayden Panettiere music video. Wake Up Call. Remember that song? Synopsis: Buy me drinks and take me places or I’ll sleep with other guys.
And could you ever envision yourself growing old with the guy who thought it was good judgment to be in a Hayden Panettiere video? Truly?
He was in the Covenant, so ehh some people do know him :)

She’s so pretty. None of my friends know this but I actually watch Gossip Girl and Blair is my favourite character.
I’d never throw my life away like that at age 22. Nuh uh no way.
Then I thought to myself, about this situation, well, maybe she’s a different case, maybe she can do something like that and stick with it.
Then I remember this is Hollywood and, if the marriage happens at all ever, it won’t last more than a month or two.
Is it awful that I’m not the slightest bit sad or surprised about that?

It’s great to be young and be in love, but you don’t have to marry everyone. People change SO much in their 20s. It’s just asking for failure.

wow ladies, bitter much? just because she’s young doesn’t mean it wouldn’t work out…it probably has more to do with the fact that the profession she’s chosen doesn’t lend itself to long term relationships, etc. being young is part of it, but definitely not the entire reason why her engagement/marriage wouldn’t last.

Leighton Meester rocks as Blair and makes GG a must-see, I hope this works out, although I am sceptical. But then again it is pretty impossible to judge other people’s relationships from the outside, so maybe it is for keeps.
