Lady GaGa: ‘I’ve finally found love with Taylor Kinney’

lady gaga fashion

Lady GaGa has been with her “totally weird” boyfriend Taylor Kinney since 2011, when they met on the set of her video for ‘You and I’. I can’t imagine what a relationship with GaGa must even be like, but apparently it works for them, so fair play. I suppose it helps that they probably get to spend next to no time together given both of their hectic schedules, but GaGa is pleased as punch to finally have found love.

From Fashion:

“It has been hard for me to find it but I have found love. When you meet someone that’s not intimidated by the amazing people that are around you [or] by the love that you receive—that’s love. Men weren’t always happy for me. It was very challenging to watch a woman be so successful.”

Fair enough. It’s true, dudes can be intimidated by women who are too successful, just like women can be intimidated by men or other women and men can be intimidated by other men and yada yada. I think a better statement here would be “it’s hard to find a partner who is secure enough in him/herself to handle my crazy ways”. That’s the same for everyone.

In any case, I wonder how long these two will last!

  • Uhh you realize that not everyone has to incorporate every single person in the things that they say, right? As a straight female, I can talk, in general, about men, and say “boyfriends”, and not have to say ‘partners’ or anything like that. You’re honestly trying to say Gaga isn’t being PC because she said ‘men’? I get that you support gay rights, thats super, so do I, but you’re a little insane with it.

    • LOL wut? I’m not mad that she didn’t say partner. I’m just saying that can happen in general (as in, everyone can relate), not that she’s wrong for saying her situation in particular.

  • I don’t agree with you on this one, Jennifer. There is plenty of research that proves that men generally feel threatened when their wife/girlfriend is more successful than them. It is even a tired trope on comedy, i.e. the Big Bang Theory and one of the men’s girlfriends earning a PhD while he doesn’t have one. A running joke for episodes on end. The Stepford Wives, that film about men who hated their more successful wives. The jokes about Angela Merkel’s (Germany’s chancellor) husband. It’s not the same for everyone.

    • Mireee, I generally love your posts, so I don’t mean to come across as rude, but you don’t really get to invalidate my experiences as a gay woman just because “research proves” that men are intimidated by successful women. That being true doesn’t negate the fact that women can also be intimidated by successful same-sex partners, or that men can’t be intimidated by male lovers, yada yada. Sure, statistics might say that this is mostly sexism thing, but my point was that I could relate.
