Well, someone’s not going to be full of the Christmas spirit this year: Taye Diggs and Idina Menzel have announced their decision to split after ten years of marriage. They’ve got a 4-year-old son, Walker, who they’ll continue to focus their energies on parenting, but their relationship has run its course.
Here’s what their reps told People:
“Idina Menzel and Taye Diggs have jointly decided to separate at this time,” reps for the couple tell PEOPLE. “Their primary focus and concern is for their son. We ask that you respect their privacy during this time.”
Diggs and Menzel, both 42, met as costars in the original production of the Broadway musical Rent in the mid-1990s.
Damn, that’s a shame, but it happens. I don’t follow either of their careers too much, to be honest, but I’ve seen both of them in several things (Idina on Broadway, Taye in various and sundry TV things) and think they’re talented. Here’s hoping they keep it mature for the sake of the kid.
