He’s none too happy with the 2012 box office disappointment. Here’s what he told the American Magazine Media Conference, via The Wrap:
It was a complete disaster. A week in you go, ‘Oh God, what have I done?’
He compared it to being in a plane crash and knowing you’re helpless saying, “The plane is buffeting, the engine is on fire.”
So why did he do it? He wanted to work with director Adam Shankman and Russell Brand and Tom Cruise.
Hopefully he’ll drop more truth bombs like these on his new MSNBC show.

oh thank god. i was forced to watch it for the first time this weekend and i kept yelling at the screen, “why did he DO this movie?! what is going on?!” the horror, guys, THE HORROR…. there was not one thing likeable about Rock Of Ages. the performances by catherine zeta jones & tom cruise in particular are embarrassing as fuuuuck. “rock” my ass! poseurs!
He’s 100% correct. The film is a train wreck. It’s incredibly miscast (Alec especially). The stage show is tons of fun though if you ever want to catch it.
So I guess he didn’t like the movie lol
