Matthew Perry Says Starring On Friends Was “A Very Lonely Time” Because Of His Addictions

Matthew Perry needs to get a show that sticks, I swear to God. Why is no one appreciating this man’s talent? Can we just give Matthew Perry a show titled Can We Just Give Matthew Perry A Show in which Matthew Perry tries to get a show? He’s good beyond being Chandler Bing. Didn’t feel very good to him though. Perry’s been very open about his various substance abuse problems while filming Friends. Here’s the latest, from what he told People magazine (some via Daily Mail):

[I was] never high at work [but was] painfully, painfully hung over.

I had a big problem with alcohol and pills and I couldn’t stop. Eventually things got so bad that I couldn’t hide it, and then everybody knew.

From an outsider’s perspective it would seem like I had it all. It was actually a very lonely time for me because I was suffering from alcoholism.

Well that sucks. Glad he’s gotten better. He was actually just honored with the White House Recovery Award for speaking about drug addiction and helping others. Wish his latest cancelled show, Go On, actually went on. Speaking of which, he handled this reporter’s faux pas with such grace:
