Wesley Snipes sorta fell off the radar after he was convicted of tax evasion in 2008 and sentenced to three years in prison. In fact, he fell so far off the radar, I forgot he even existed. Well, refresh your memory, folks – he’s done his time and he’s now out of the slammer and on house arrest until July. Let this be a lesson, folks: fill out your 1040EZ.

Passenger 57 is no longer Inmate #43355-018 — TMZ has learned Wesley Snipes has been released from prison.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons tells TMZ … Snipes was released on April 2 and transferred to the New York Community Corrections Office, which will oversee his home confinement.
Home confinement (aka house arrest) will end July 19.
Snipes checked into McKean Federal Correctional Institution in Pennsylvania back in December 2010 after he was convicted for failing to file federal income tax returns.
Well, that’s good, I guess? Maybe he can make a comeback with another Blade film, or in the next Expendables (which he’s rumoured to be a part of). Wesley Snipes just makes me think of Charlie Murphy saying he and Eddie were the blackest dudes in the game before Wesley came along. Now I want to watch Chappelle’s Show.
I only thought about him the other day as the guy who (ALLEGEDLY) smacked Halle Berry so badly she lost hearing in one of her ears.
He is a man. They can’t help what idiots they are….esp, the ones that Berry dates…lol.

I remember when he went to jail pretty vividly. 3 years passes quickly. It was a brutal sentence. If he were LiLo – he would have never done a day in prison. He paid a million and a half and offered to set up payment plans with the IRS for the other half, but they didn’t care and sent him to the big house. Bullshit is what that was

kimcheee and pikki nikki: Wesley Snipes is a piece of shit who should have done double the prison time he got. From 1999 – 2004, he made $38 million, and paid ZERO taxes. For seven years, he didn’t bother to file tax returns. He let two known tax “preparers” do his taxes when questioned by the government, one who is a convicted tax felon, the other who had been barred from preparing taxes because he espoused delusional tax theories. His attorney was also a well-known tax fraud who was prohibited from representing clients because he espoused theories in direct contravention of accepted and settled tax law.
Finally, when given the chance to pay his back taxes, he issued $14 million in checks that promptly bounced.
When Wesley bloviated nonsensical tax law after he’d been charged with tax evasion, and forced Uncle Sam to chase him for a few years, you are just plain stupid and deserve to get whatever comes your way.
I prepare taxes during tax season. I followed this case closely because I had people come up to me and try to tell me that Wesley was right. I told them they could try, but eventually Uncle Sam makes examples of kooks who don’t pay their taxes!
