Jessica Simpson Is Supposed to Lose 50 Pounds in Five Months

From In Touch:

Jessica Simpson is not wasting any time working on losing the baby weight! In Touch has learned that the new mom is hitting the gym hard – with five trips to the gym in just two weeks! “She is as focused and determined as ever,” Harley Pasternak, Jessica’s trainer, tells In Touch.

But Jessica looked downright exhausted as she left LA’s Bodiworx gym on June 12, her fifth trip in fourteen days. “She’s so emotional,” a friend tells In Touch. “She doesn’t want to leave her baby. Sometimes she just starts crying. It’s hard for her.”

After reaching 210 pounds during her pregnancy, it seems taking a break is not an option for the 5’3″ star. With Weight Watchers paying her $4 million to slim down to her goal weight of 130 pounds — and a plan to marry her fiancé, Eric Johnson, by the end of the year — Jessica now faces the daunting task of losing approximately 50 pounds in five months.

“Jessica wants to set a good example for Maxi,” the insider shares with In Touch. “She wants to teach her daughter to have a healthy lifestyle.”

That makes me really sad, the mental image of Jessica Simpson crying because she doesn’t want to leave her baby, but feeling that she has to because of this obligation to lose a certain amount of weight in a certain amount of time. I wish Jess would just tell Weight Watchers to keep their $4 million – it’s not like she really needs it anyway – and do everything at her own pace. Unfortunately, I don’t think that will ever happen.

I think it’s very important to teach your children about having healthy lifestyles, but everyone always seems to forget about the emotional aspect of health. Sure, Jessica’s getting in lots of exercise, and yeah, she’s eating healthily. But if she’s to the point where she cries like this? That doesn’t sound way healthy to me, guys.

What do you think?

  • “Hitting the gym hard” – 5x in two weeks? That isn’t exactly “hard” – it sounds reasonable.

And she’s a new mom! Of course she probably wants to be with her child 24/7. I can see the reason for crying about that, not to mention the crazy mama hormones.

  • Big deal, I’ve been to the gym 11 times in the last 2 weeks… Unfortunately nobody’s paying me $4m to reach 130lbs.

  • Between hormones and the hard work of losing weight, I don’t blame her. And no, I don’t think it’s unhealthy. When I’m hormonal, I cry about dieting and going to the gym, too – and I can’t even imagine if I had a little baby I was missing!

  • No, going to the gym 5x a week isn’t exactly hard, but not everyone can lose that amount of weight in 5 mos. 10 lbs a month isn’t easy for everyone. I get she’s under a contract, but Weight Watchers should be a bit more reasonable. I wish she’d tell them to shove it, but as Emily said, that won’t happen.

  • Hmmm…maybe the “difficult” part is in part due to her c-section? That’s about all I can make out of that. Five times in two weeks is no big deal – unless you’re recovering from major surgery, in which case, yes, this may be quite difficult.

And why can’t she bring her baby along? I’m assuming she has a personal trainer and a private workout area or something. I say bring the little one along to watch.
