Katy Perry Was Heavily Photoshopped for Interview

Remember the cover of Interview magazine that we showed you the other day featuring Katy Perry trying to channel Amy Winehouse – or so people claimed? We’ve got our hands on some more photos from the spread, and it appears that it’s not Winehouse Katy’s trying to channel, it’s some kind of dark, goth burlesque thing, and it’s appropriate enough – Katy told Interview that her music, and I quote, is “about to get real f-cking dark.” She claims that she’ll be “shoe-gazing,” and you won’t be able to see her face, because her “hair is in [my] face.” She gonna stop washing it, too? There was a kid that used to sit in front of me in one of my Calculus classes back in the day who always wore band t-shirts that supported bands with scary, cadaver-like names to them and this dude always had his hair in his face. Which he never washed (his hair or his face). And he always smelled. Not necessarily of anything like shit or piss or sweat, but like … well, unwashed hair. Oil. He always smelled like body oil, and it was very cloying, very close, and very gross.

Is that the kind of thing you’re going for, Katy? Because if it is … I don’t know, man. No one’s going to want to sit behind you no matter what the front of you looks like.

On hosting Saturday Night Live: “I thought it was really fun, and, of course, interesting and educational in terms of how the industry works…You know how they call SNL ‘the institution?’ It is like an institution—but in a good way. There’s nothing like it, so everyone kind of dreams about doing it. But then you actually get there and realize how much work it is and how little time you guys have to put the whole show together…I think we had three consecutive 20-hour days or something.

On being very different from the rest of her family: “I think they just see that the dynamic has changed because I’m in a different place. But it’s not like I disrespect them in any way. I mean, I take care of them. But that’s what I’ve always wanted: to have enough that I could make sure that everyone in my family had enough. I grew up not really having anything, so the idea that I can take care of my family and my friends now is a really cool bonus.”

On what she wants to do when she’s 80: “I feel like I could be in Florida on a kind of healthy trip where I’m just riding my bike and chillin’ at the beach, with an assisted-living condo bit and a meal delivery service—which is sort of how I’m living now. But I also kind of hope that I turn out to be like my grandma, who is 91 and so rad.”

  • As dramatic as this is, I dig it. And I would go so far as to say, for the first time ever, that she looks attractive. She seems to be channeling a dark-souled Eliazbeth Taylor.

    • Yeah, I definitely see that. She looks better in the shoot than she does in real life – unquestionably.

  • she resembles liz hurley more than katy perry. photoshop is bullshit from real beauty. don’t get me wrong, hurls isn;t the real beauty either.

  • Photoshop or not, that’s one pretty girl. Granted, she’s utterly daft, but the girl can work a camera.

  • They are trying to make her look like Amy Winehouse. She is not, and never will be, anything approaching Amy Winehouse in terms of talent.

  • How can people say this at all resembles Winehouse? She looks awesome. All they have in common is eyeliner and dark hair, and Winehouse’s wings always looked trashy and coked out.
