Eddie Murphy to get Cecil B. DeMille Award at Golden Globes

He’s been entertaining the world since 1980 when he joined the cast of Saturday Night Live. Bringing us characters like Gumby, Buckwheat, and Mr Robinsons neighborhood. Now Eddie Murphy is getting recognized by the foreign press association.

The 2023 Golden Globes with honor Murphy with the Cecil B. DeMille Award for ‘outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment’.

The recipient of the award is decided by the HFPA’s board of directors and is one of the show’s highest honors.

‘We’re honored to present this year’s Cecil B. DeMille Award to the iconic and highly esteemed Mr. Eddie Murphy,’ HFPA president Helen Hoehne said in a statement. 

‘We’re thrilled to be celebrating the lasting impact on film and television that his career — in front of and behind the camera — has had through the decades.’

The recipient of the Carol Burnett Award, which is considered the show’s other highest honor alongside the Cecil B. DeMille trophy, has yet to be announced.
