South Park creators ink massive deal with Comedy Central

I’ve gotta be honest here.  I do NOT understand this biznezz.   Trey Parker and Matt Stone, who created South Park and the insanely popular Book of Mormon, just inked a deal with Paramount that will blow your mind.

The pair will keep producing episodes of South Park.  A show for which I don’t know anyone who watches, but they’ll also produce 8 movies for Paramount studios!  About what?

Book of Mormon was fantastic, but how many versions or sequels can you create? And god help me if they go back to the Team America days, because that was dreadful.

Still, someone must know something I don’t know, so I’m kind of anxious to see what they come up with.

“Matt and Trey are world-class creatives who brilliantly use their outrageous humor to skewer the absurdities of our culture and we are excited to expand and deepen our long relationship with them to help fuel Paramount+ and Comedy Central,” said Chris McCarthy, President/CEO -MTV Entertainment & CCO/Adult Animation – Paramount+. “Franchising marquee content like South Park and developing new IP with tremendous talent like Matt and Trey, is at the heart of our strategy to continue growing Paramount+.”
