Russell Crowe is selling off his movie memorabilia in ‘divorce auction’

Everyone deals with divorce differently. For Russell Crowe, it means getting rid of all his stuff.

The actor is selling more than 200 items, including items he’s collected from his films over the years. The Sotheby’s Australia auction listing has items from Gladiator (including a “fully functioning” Roman chariot), Master and Commander, Les Miserables, and Cinderella Man, among others.

The collection, called “The Art of Divorce,” will be auctioned off on April 7, Crowe’s birthday and wedding anniversary with ex Danielle Spencer. “The sale represents the dispersal of a highly personal collection that was assembled by Crowe over many years, including those shared with his former wife,” per Sotheby’s, and also includes various other items such as paintings, furniture, musical instruments, watches, and sporting memorabilia. Sotheby’s estimates the auction’s value at $2.8 million.

Speaking to Australia’s Daily Telegraph (via The Daily Beast), Crowe said of Spencer, “We’ve been separated over five years now, our divorce should be finalized around the time of the auction. Just as we collaborate on the upbringing of our kids, it’s easy for us to work together on something like this. I think she feels the same way I do in regards to just moving on things that help create space for the future.”
