Mariah Carey Blames New Year’s Eve Disaster “Performance” On Producer Sabotage

You have to be living under a rock at this point to have missed Mariah Carey‘s incredible New Year’s Eve “performance” on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest and oh man, was it a blessing. We’re talking nearly five full minutes of Mariah walking around the stage aimlessly, complaining about her dancers, telling the audience to sing her songs for her and regaling the audience with tales of how “Emotions” went to the top of the charts in its day. It was an absolute disaster from start to finish and that’s why it was the most perfect and beautiful way to end 2016.

While Mariah initially responded to the debacle with a casual “shit happens,” she’s now singing a different tune, which makes a change since she sang nothing at all on the actual broadcast. Mariah claims her performance was sabotaged by Dick Clark Productions, who let her take the stage with faulty sound equipment.

From Page Six:

“You know her inner ears were NOT working and your entire production team did not set her up to win,” the manager, Stella Bulochnikov, wrote to Mark Shimmel, whose company produced Carey’s TV nightmare, which was broadcast live on ABC.

“AND MARIAH KEPT TELLING THEM [something was wrong] ON STAGE IN REAL TIME,” Bulochnikov typed in all caps in the letter, a copy of which was obtained by The Post.

“THEY KEPT IGNORING HER. SHE TOOK A HIT HONORING HER COMMITMENT TO YOU. I SHOULD HAVE PULLED HER OFF THE STAGE THIS IS SABOTAGE.”

She ended the letter by demanding a “formal apology” and saying the singer may pursue legal action if no mea culpa is forthcoming.

I feel so bad for Mariah’s manager, who has to spin gold from shit to keep her client happy. I grew up obsessed with Mariah and she’ll forever be a diva, but homegirl needs to hang up her singing boots. She’s pretty much entirely lost her voice (at least from recent “performances” I’ve heard) and has just descended into a world of complete and utter delusion. Not a good look.

In case you missed the performance or if you just have a serious case of Schadenfreude, here’s just a sliver for your enjoyment:
