Christmas Gift Lists: Subscription Boxes!

I was one of the more skeptical people when box subscriptions started really catching on. The old adage “if it sounds too good to be true, it probably isn’t” kept ringing in my ear. But what I’ve learned is that many of these companies simply take advantage of overstock for deals or simply order so much of an item it’s marked down to nothing!  And then there’s the companies selling their very own merch. Like Rachel Zoe’s giant box of goodness or this smelltastic quarterly shipment from Mugler.

And sometimes it’s just fun to get something we (or that our gift recipient) would never buy for ourselves.  Find out something about ourselves via a surprise waiting on our doorstep when we get home one night.

So here are some of our favorite subscriptions that are tested and approved for being legit and worth your money.  Also feel free to check out some great subscription box sites, lie Cratejoy.com,  mysubscriptionaddiction.com, that can help you find one that suits you!

Yourbijiouxbox.com is one of my favorite jewelry boxes out there. It’s very costumey, but for me that’s part of the fun. The cool statement piece that catches everyone’s eye.  Go on the site. They gladly show you past boxes. A true sign of an honest sub box.  roughly $35/mo, min of 3 pieces of jewelry

Let me tell you why I love this PeelyPack sticker arts box.  As an aunt with no kids, the idea that once a month my nephew would be given the tools to make me a handcrafted card…. well it increases the likely hood of me getting a card from them greatly.   And it’s like $12.

There are lots of “nerd” and “geek” boxes out there. Some would say the box above is one. Those people can bite me. But anyway, I’ve heard from multiple sources that the best nerd box in the biz is the 1up box. First month is just $10 and it’s full of game and sci fi shit.

GlossyBox is the end all be all to make up and beauty care boxes. IMO. Lotions, creams, foundation, liners, polish, you name it and this box will send it to you. I’ve even kept a box or two to use as storage b/c they’re so pretty. $25

Scent Bird is a perfume junkies dream. AKA, mine. You get a small, but reasonable size bottle of some of the highest end scents made and credit towards buying a full size when you pick one. Just go peruse the selections. You get up to three perfumes a month from a queue, just like your Netflix works. WANT.   $15
