Well, it turns out the third time isn’t a charm at all, at least not for Halle Berry. Her third marriage is over, as Berry filed for divorce from Olivier Martinez on Monday after only two years of marriage. Apparently she filed the document using pseudonyms, with herself listed as “Hal Maria” and Olivier listed as “Oliver Martin”, and that may complicate things since it may or may not be entirely legal to petition a divorce with fake names. With that in mind, Olivier likely thinks he has the upper hand, as he filed his own divorce against Halle later the same day, and if Halle’s doesn’t stand, he’ll officially be the petitioner. Uh oh!
Martinez cites “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split in his petition, and he asks for joint custody of their 2-year-old son, Maceo. It’s unclear if there’s any kind of financial settlement involved here, but they did release a joint statement to US Weekly about their split:
“It is with a heavy heart that we have come to the decision to divorce. We move forward with love and respect for one another and the shared focus for what is best for our son. We wish each other nothing but happiness in life, and we hope that you respect our, and most importantly our children’s privacy, as we go through this difficult period.”
I guess it’s a shame? I don’t know, it’s kind of the reason you never get married just because you actually got knocked up – it never ends well. Hopefully the kid doesn’t suffer in all this – that’s the main thing.
Halle is too troubled to ever be in a good, stable relationship. Not that hooking up with this violent jerk would ever work anyway.
Halle seems like a DRAMA QUEEN. I never liked her since she hit and ran on that lady and then when she let hubby #3 beat the crap out of hubby #2 and got in that nasty custody battle with the kid she is bad news
