Jennifer Lawrence will never join Twitter

Unsurprisingly, Jennifer Lawrence is not all that fond of technology these days. Well, at the very least, she’s a bit wary of it. She still has an iPhone and all that, but she’ll never join Twitter, basically because we’re all assholes who have been rude about her and she can’t really get into all that.

During an interview with Nick Grimshaw on BBC Radio 1’s breakfast show, JLaw had the following to say (via E Online):

“I will never get Twitter. I’m not very good on phones or technology. I cannot really keep up with emails so the idea of Twitter is so unthinkable to me.”

“I don’t really understand what it is. It’s like this weird enigma that people talk about. It’s fine, I respect that, but no, I’ll never get a Twitter. If you ever see a Facebook, Instagram or Twitter that says it’s me, it most certainly is not.”

The morning show host noted how serious Jen got with that answer. “I had that one locked and loaded,” she said with a laugh. “I really like laser focused [on that answer]…it’s because the internet has scorned me so much that I feel like it’s that girl in high school that I’m like, ‘Oh, you want to talk about her? Yeah I’ll do that!’ Take my hoops off, I’m ready to go.”

Alright, let me say something as a JLaw… well, not fan, but moderate enjoyer of: I hate hate HATE when celebrities (and it’s always particularly women who do this) pretend they’re totally clueless about technology. It’s not cute, it’s not quirky, it’s not funny. It just makes you look dumb. It’s 2014 and whether or not you USE those sites, unless you live under a rock, you at least fucking know what they are and what they’re about.

That being said, I understand why she doesn’t want to be on social media. It’s not a great place for regular people sometimes, let alone celebrities.

    • I don’t get instagram. You can post pictures on twitter as well plus the tweets, so who needs instagram?

  • Um

Congrats, JLaw? She’s not really a one-liner gal, she’s more of a farter and faller-downer, harder to encompass in 140 characters properly

  • I know people who absolutely refuse to engage in social media sites so its not all that uncommon. Putting stuff out there is always risky on the Net in many different ways.

  • Yes, it’s SOOOOO important to post all kinds of useless crap on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc. If you think that, there’s a reason users of Twitter and the like are really called Twits.

  • i don’t like her but i get not being linked to social media it’s such a pain in the ass
that being said she’s so annoying when she pretends to be such a special snowflake because she eats!! and doesn’t get technology!! omggggg!!! like pls chill you don’t get a cookie
(and her transphobic comments are not cute either so lol)
