Yesterday, Joan Rivers was rushed to hospital after she stopped breathing during a surgery she was having on her vocal chords at a New York City clinic. She’s 81, so obviously procedures like this pose a greater danger, and it’s still unclear whether she’s going to be alright, though she is said to be in stable condition. At the moment, she’s apparently in a medically-induced coma and her daughter Melissa has rushed to her side.

“I want to thank everyone for the overwhelming love and support for my mother,” Melissa said in a statement. “She is resting comfortably and is with our family. We ask that you continue to keep her in your thoughts and prayers.”
It seems like she had a pretty close call here, as some reports have even said that her heart stopped beating momentarily! Hopefully she’s alright and pulls through this without any lasting damage having been done.
Well, apparently it’s much worse than that. It’s possible, from all I can tell, that there was much more damage to the heart during/after the procedure prior to getting into the ER than was previously believed. I love her in Fashion Police. She’s 81 and doesn’t give a damn what others think about her and lets her opinions (many of them conflicted with her overall liberal viewpoints) out there, and I applaud her for that.
