Don’t Expect To See Pamela Anderson’s Ice Bucket Challenge Video Anytime Soon

Pamela+Anderson

Pamela Anderson took some time off from writing divorce poetry to give a statement about why she’s not in support of the ice bucket challenge. Hint: it has to do with animal testing. See, Ms. Pam Anderson is a big fan of animals, and is very dead-set against any kind of harm done to them in any way. Here’s what she had to say, hot off of Facebook:

Sorry –
I can’t bring myself to do your Ice bucket challenge.
I enjoy a good dare- It’s always good to bring awareness – in fun, creative ways / I don’t want to take away from that.
but it had me thinking. Digging a bit deeper. I found that we may not be aligned – in our messages. So…
– I thought Instead / I’d challenge ALS to stop Animal testing /– Recent experiments funded by the ALS Association, mice had holes drilled into their skulls, were inflicted with crippling illnesses, and were forced to run on an inclined treadmill until they collapsed from exhaustion. Monkeys had chemicals injected into their brains and backs and were later killed and dissected.
What is the result of these experiments (other than a lot of suffering)? In the past decade, only about a dozen experimental ALS treatments have moved on to human trials after being shown to alleviate the disease in animals. All but one of these treatments failed in humans—and the one that “passed” offers only marginal benefits to humans who suffer from ALS. This massive failure rate is typical for animal experiments, because even though animals feel pain and suffer like we do, their bodies often react completely differently to drugs and diseases. According to the FDA, 92 out of every 100 drugs that pass animal trials fail during the human clinical trial phase.

Sophisticated non-animal testing methods—including in vitro methods, advanced computer-modeling techniques, and studies with human volunteers, among others—have given us everything from the best life-saving HIV drugs to cloned human skin for burn victims. Trying to cure human diseases by relying on outdated and ineffective animal experiments isn’t only cruel—it’s a grave disservice to people who desperately need cures.

Please, help scientists make real progress toward treating and curing human diseases by visiting HumaneSeal.org to find and support charities that never harm animals and which pour their time and resources into advanced, promising, human-relevant cures.

Um, okay, not sure why you needed to be soaking wet and headless to make your point, but there it is.

What do you think about her stance on this issue? Does she have a fair point or is she being a big spoil sport?

  • No one likes the idea of animal testing, it’s terrible to think about. However, I will be the first to say I would not take the place of mice or monkies to find the cure. She should volunteer to be tested on instead. If a family member of mine was diagnosed with ALS I would be damn sure to stand behind those scientists conducting the testing. So please, Pamela., go save a monkey and take its place.

  • I have multiple sclerosis. Those scientists and pharmeceuticals are toxic poisons and are what is making people worse. Cancer, ALS, Parkinsons, MS….they are all the same scenario. She is exactly right in her convictions. The animals they are testing are given chemicals that eventually make it to people and its conscious that these are toxins. I learned this from an esteemed neurologist who treated patients with NUTRITION. Way to take a stand Pam. I fully support her words. She awake on this issue.

    • Yes, because nutrition and only healthy foods are the cute to your disease. ALS is progressive calcification that cannot be stopped. Pull your head out of your ass and realize these disease will never be cured unless pharmaceutical research is done.

You must be on a juice diet to be so stupid.

  • got cancer? well just eat right, it will go away -_-
    fucking morons.
if my child were to get a terrible disease like that, hell, i wouldn’t care if a billion mice died to find a cure. listen, i love animals, i really do. but as long as you are not affected by an illness like that you have no idea.

  • No dumb-ass DO, it’s not a juice fast. It’s 55 years of nutritional research on a disease the docs treat as neurological and is ACTUALLY VASCULAR. It’s not as simple as “eat right”. Each disease has specific nutritiona needs and nutrition alone will not do it.

Lala and Dr. DO, unless you have the disease STFU. Doctors “practice” medicine. It’s us researchers that actually KNOW what’s up. Some of us researchers have disease that we REVERSE. Cannabis oil, nutrition, rest, exercise are the START and the FOUNDATION…..but you are probably too busy chomping on your Cheetos to bother opening your minion of a sheeple mind. When you get cancer or ALS or MS or whatever disease you get – pharmeceutical drug away! buh-bye.

  • Multiple sclerosis is PRETTY BAD, so fuck you – I do have an idea and I’m doing 1000% times better than all you drug using pushers.

  • I am no tree hugger and I think you do whatever it takes to cure debilitating diseases but when was the last time you read or heard .. we found a cure for blank? And when was the last time you read or heard them say we cured blank by experimenting in monkeys?

  • try reading scientific journals, they describe the experiements they do and all the findings.
i know someone with a very rare blood disorder and she got better when she was treated with medication that was created by fusing mice dna and human dna.

    • is she cured or just better? I was talking about “the big diseases” ALS MS Parkinsons CANCER and others? Millions and Millions of dollars and ??? “We are getting close” That has been the song for decades better business to “treat” these diseases than find a cure.
