Britney Spears’ manager admits she can’t sing live

I don’t know whether it’s comforting or sad (or a little bit of both) that Britney Spears‘ longtime manager, Adam Leber, has admitted that there’s no way Britney can sing live during her Las Vegas shows. His explanation is due to all the dancing she does – and admittedly, she does bust her ass on the floor, 100% – not because she is actually incapable of singing well.

From Medium:

“To put on the show that she puts on, it’s virtually impossible to sing the entire time and do what she does,” Adam Leber told me. “She’s singing on every song, basically, when she has the ability to sing. There’s no way you can dance for 90 minutes straight and sing the entire time.”

Of course, this is completely against what he said before the show started, which was…

“Britney Spears will be singing live during her show (and) she will not be ‘lip-synching.”

Oh, dear. Even BritBrit herself promised to bring the live vocals, even if they’re “not so great”. All that being said, I don’t think anyone is at all surprised to learn that Britney doesn’t sing live during her shows. She never has sang live, and on the few occasions when she tried to, things… did not go well. Britney is an entertainer, a show-woman. We’re wrapped up in the Britney popstar persona, not in her singing talent – and thank God for that, or she wouldn’t be a star.

Should she sing live? Sure, but she should also be a good vocalist and she just isn’t. We’ve accepted that, so we should probably just accept that homegirl is going to move her mouth on top of a backing track and get over it, eh? Given the high ticket sales, I’d say most people have.

  • Same with Beyonce, Chris Brown or Jennifer Lopez – they ALL lip-synch because there’s no way they can do all that dancing and sing well at the same time.

Hard to believe people spend all that money on “concerts” where the main act is just dancing and not singing.

    • It’s a Las Vegas Show NOT a concert. BUT ya you said it too much dancing to do a legit concert. If these ppl just stood there and sang ppl would say I should have saved my money and just down loaded the CD. I think ppl want to see a Britney Show
