Sarah Michelle Gellar threw shade at the Kimye ‘Vogue’ cover

Lots of people aren’t very happy about the fact that Kim & Kanye got their own Vogue cover, and I can’t really blame them. These two are a disaster, and certainly not really meant for the cover of a premiere fashion magazine (though try telling them that). While plenty of celebrities had their complaints, I’m sure, one stood brave enough to actually throw shade publicly, and it was none other than Buffy the Vampire Slayer herself, Sarah Michelle Gellar.

I mean, in one sense, Sarah Michelle Gellar has been on the cover of Vogue zero times, so there could be a bit of hateration there. In the other sense, I totally get where she’s coming from. The magazine took a massive step down by putting Kimye on the cover, 100%, but I think it’s pretty hilarious that SMG (and so many others) have sworn it off forever because of this.

Meanwhile, Anna Wintour has insisted that Kimye didn’t beg for the cover, it was TOTALLY her own decision (LOL, kay):

“Part of the pleasure of editing Vogue, one that lies in a long tradition of this magazine, is being able to feature those who define the culture at any given moment, who stir things up, whose presence in the world shapes the way it looks and influences the way we see it,” Wintour, 64, wrote. “I think we can all agree on the fact that that role is currently being played by Kim and Kanye to a T. (Or perhaps that should be to a K?)”

“As for the cover, my opinion is that it is both charming and touching, and it was, I should add, entirely our idea to do it; you may have read that Kanye begged me to put his fiancee on Vogue‘s cover. He did nothing of the sort,” she explained. “The gossip might make better reading, but the simple fact of the matter is that it isn’t true.”

HAHAHA. Yeah, alright.

  • I actually don’t mind this cover ( although it would be better without Kanye). Kim Kardashian might be famous for a lot of the wrong reasons, but I see no reason that her having a cover is any different than Lady Gaga, etc. Sure, Gaga has talent, but she was put on the cover for her schtick of being over the top ( read:attention-monger), not because she has talent .

Kim actually looks pretty damn good here.

  • This cover does not affect me at all however I’m going to go out on a limb and say The American Foundation for AIDS Research has just received a sizeable “donation” from Kanye. A charity Ms Wintour supports.

  • Those who “stir things up?” Really Anna? Well, why not feature terrorists and Klan members, too?

  • Seriously, who reads magazines anymore anyway…they are a dying breed. Vogue has just dropped itself into the category of pandering to the latest “it” celebrity…what it is failing to see is that the majority of the public DESPISE these two. Kim is famous because she had sex with a C list rapper who then literally peed on her, and she had it all videotaped and released it (sorry “leaked”.it..no pun intended) to the public. Men urinate on her and she digs it..quite a role model. Way to go Anna…you have just thrown Vogue into the gutter.

    • I will agree with Anna Wintour that Kim and her equally idiotic husband Kanye reflect parts of our culture at this time.
