Everyone expected America’s sweetheart, Jennifer Lawrence, to go home with the Best Supporting Actress award at last night’s Oscars despite the fact that the character wasn’t all that great and she wasn’t even a major part of the film. Thankfully, that didn’t happen, and in fact Lupita Nyong’o was handed the statue for her amazing work in 12 Years a Slave.
While everyone got a nice surprise in seeing Lupita get the trophy, no one was more shocked than Lupita herself.

“It hasn’t set in,” she said. “I haven’t even slept! It is overwhelming, but at the same time, this is the thing I dreamed for, it’s the thing that I availed myself for. I’m just trying to allow myself to absorb it all.”
Luckily her dream come true is a full-on reality.
“Twelve midnight came and this,” she said, holding her Oscar, “did not disappear.”
Aww, she’s the best. I’m really happy she won – she more than deserved it, and I can’t wait to see what other roles she’ll pick up now that she has this kind of clout behind her.
Lupita you deserved that Oscar. We were very happy to see you when they called your name. Hope you get many more offers for great roles again.
