… and the results aren’t at all surprising. We pretty much figured that a fatal heroin overdose is what killed Philip Seymour Hoffman, but we didn’t know the particulars until an autopsy was performed and the results were returned. Well, now we have those results and it’s exactly as we suspected: he died of “acute mixed drug intoxication”.
US Weekly got the New York City Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to confirm that Hoffman was killed by an “accidental acute mixed drug intoxication, including heroin, cocaine, benzodiazepines, and amphetamine”. Jesus – what a combination!
There was an initial autopsy done right after Hoffman died, but the results were said to be “inconclusive” at that time. The final toxicology reports are was determined the mix of drugs in his system.
Really a shame, and also quite telling as to just how messed up he was to be taking all of those drugs, some of which were probably prescription, but nonetheless…
