Ace of Base is Back. How Excited Are You?

My fellow children of the 90s, gather ’round for the greatest comeback of our lifetime. Or something. What I’m trying to say is is that Ace of Base has put out a new single, and while it certainly is no “The Sign” or even “All That She Wants”, I’ll take it. It’s been so long since I’ve heard anything from these crazy Sweedish kids that I’d take a 30 second clip of them vomiting into each other’s mouths over the silence I’ve had to endure.

“All For You” admittedly kind of blows, but I could see myself not hating it if I was a little drunk and it came on at the gay bar or whatever. That’s more than I can say about most people.

  • Oh my gosh! I love Ace of Bace so much! I seriously talk about them all the time and scream when their songs come on, and that is not the type of person I am at all. It’s also why I like the song Alejandro so much, because it reminds me of Ace of Base! This news just made my life.

    • Haha, you beat me to the punch with “Alejandro” ;-) I used to love Ace of Base … I’m pretty psyched!

    • Lisa, when I heard Alejandro, that’s exactly what I said to my husband. So reminiscent.
The first thing I thought when I heard this song..That’s not Jenny or Linn!! fuck this.

  • It seems a great song. We all miss Original ACE OF BASE, but we still Love and will Support new ACE.OF.BASE

    an acer from LA

    • Andre, this is not awesome. this is a different group.. they should not be using the same name, masquerading as one of my faves. it’s like guns n roses as they are now, pretending to be the band it was.. C’MON

  • Wow, I never would have guessed that:

    a) People would get so excited about some of the most mundane sounding shit ever released.

    b) People would call the boring and mundane creators (theyre Swedish ffs) of this mundane shit “crazy”.

  • It’s not spelled sweedish :P It’s swedish! Anyway I think it’s good for Ulf to get back into music because all he does now is party hard in Stockholm with B and C-list celebs….

  • Basically for those people who are confused…..

Linn decided she didn’t like the spotlight way back in the 90s and so by 2002 when they released Da Capo she was mainly hiding in the background. She then officially left the band in 2008.

After Linn’s departure the band could then concentrate on ‘getting on with it’ with the 3 remaining members.

They toured as a trio and then recorded a new album.

Sadly no record company was willing to take the band on as a trio and demanded that they hire a new singer.

Understandably Jenny refused to let this happen and after several months decided to take a hiatus from the band with the possiblilty of going back after she has released a solo record – she released a single ‘Here I Am’ this year.

With a new album already recorded Ulf and Jonas drafted in Clara and Julia to record over Jennys vocals.

They have changed the name of the band, albeit slightly.

What was once Ace of Base now becomes Ace.of.Base.

  • Love the new songs, and think it’s cool they’re (mostly) back together! They were really great throughout 1993-2003 or so.

  • As a fan from the start, the legend that was Ace of Base made heat waves in the 90’s like a fire fed by pure oxygen. With sisters Linn and Jenny, they brought a level of emotion when they sung that was simply real and magical. It was the oxygen that fed the fire. They etched moments in 90’s history that will forever be remembered. Ace of Base will forever be identified by Ulf, Jonas, Linn and Jenny.

The new single and band line up leaves much to be desired. The vocals are weak and bland which is cemented by the fact that the track sounds over produced, and heavily edited. It embodies an element like any flash in the pan dance act of today. It has no substance and mirrors what Cascada could do with very little effort.

    EPIC FAIL.

Having new faces in the lineup and still carrying the name Ace of Base is insulting. If they would have given the new band a new name I would have more respect for them.

The legend that was Ace of Base will never be matched because good music never dies. Forever the memories…
