That Was Fast: Kaley Cuoco Engaged After 3 Months

This will surely last. Kaley Cuoco, who was dating Henry Cavill for a hot second not even 4 months ago, is now engaged to tennis player Ryan Sweeting. Her rep confirmed it to Us Weekly and a source added,

It’s only been three months but she knows Ryan is the one. When you know, you know.

Okay. Apparently they got engaged yesterday, 9/25. Someone’s either not doing their math right or knows something we don’t, because she apparently broke up with Superman in early July and it’s now the end of September, so I don’t see how she could have been dating tennis dude for 3 months. Then again, there are those saying that the Cavill thing was a publicity stunt and was never a real relationship. I believe that. It’s the only way this makes sense.

You’ll have to forgive me if I’m a little weary of the truth to this, considering that Us just published a false cover story on Jennifer Aniston’s pregnancy. But there are photos of Ms. Cuoco wearing an engagement ring:

I mean, whatever, it’s their lives but this isn’t the 1950’s anymore. There’s no good reason to get engaged after 3 months. Unless they’re planning a very long engagement. You don’t know someone enough after 3 months, I don’t care what you say. After 3 months you most likely still haven’t seen everything about that person: how they fight, how they deal with major disappointment, how they interact with their families and yours, how they spend money, how they spend their days. Unless you’ve been through something tremendous and life-changing together, like battling in a war, I don’t see how you could really know someone well enough within that time frame to make a decision to sign a contract to spend your lives together.

BUT I LOVE TO BE PROVEN WRONG. I love romantic stories, so if you got ’em (“my parents got engaged after their first date and they’ve been together 101 years”) share ’em!

  • My best friend’s parents became engaged after three weeks and married three weeks after that. They remained married until her unexpected death twenty-seven years later.
Another friend, who is more of a mentor, met her husband in Jerusalem 10 days before she returned to the United States. She planned a wedding & they were married when he returned. It has been more than 30 years now & they’re still going strong!

But, even in spite of my own friends’ experiences, I think marriage is the new dating. And it’s bullshit. I’m talking about a different generation, one that took commitment seriously. Divorce is so casual, it’s sad.

  • my sister and her husband moved in together two weeks after they first met, were engaged four weeks later and had a baby one year later :)

me on the other hand: forever alooooooone.

so, i’m not sure if i do believe in romance.blegh.

  • I’m with Chuck but 1 yr tops. and The only reason to get engaged after 3 months is if you are planning a loooong engagement or she’s knocked up and he daddy has gone to load the shot gun !!

  • My boyfriend and I have been together for 11 years. Not engaged, don’t want to be. To me, marriage is pretty pointless.

  • This chick is going to expand like the universe did.
