Kerry Washington Is Proud of ‘Scandal’s Diversity

Do you guys watch Scandal? It’s one of those shows I’ve always meant to watch because everyone says it’s so good and people are always shipping Olivia/Whoever That Guy is on my Tumblr dashboard, but beyond that, I really have no clue what it’s about. Something political? There’s just no time! There’s never enough time for anything, ever!

In any case, Kerry Washington is the star and she’s really proud of the show’s diversity, as she told Access Hollywood:

“What’s important to me is that the show represents diversity on so many levels,” Kerry said, when asked how she feels about possibly nabbing the Emmy. “When you look at the cast on our show, you see diversity with regard to ethnicity, with regard to gender, sexual orientation, with regard to age, with regard to race – and that, to me, is what’s most important.

“That a show that represents the full spectrum of humanity, or that attempts to get close to representing the full spectrum of humanity, that that show could be so celebrated? That’s what I’m most proud of,” she continued.

Kerry is up for an Emmy this Sunday, which is pretty huge – and best of luck to her. She’s also apparently the best dressed woman in Hollywood, which is… I guess an honour?

So… should I watch Scandal first or Breaking Bad? Because no, I haven’t seen either. I’m deprived.
