Would YOU See An Arrested Development Movie?

Arrested Development may get a movie, finally. It’s miraculous enough that the show came back for another season on Netflix, so perhaps we shouldn’t press our luck. But Mitch Hurwitz, AD‘s creator, is really stoked about the idea. Despite the fact that nothing’s been greenlit, he’s already writing the screenplay. He wants ANOTHER season, too. From Mitch Hurwitz, Rolling Stone:

I’m working on the movie right now. I can’t get into much more detail because I don’t want to scare anybody off. I don’t want to be presumptuous about it. I don’t own the property outright – it’s a 20th Century Fox property. But everybody seems really into it and really eager to make a movie.

A TV season is a six-month commitment. But I think it would be very doable to get them [the cast] together for four or five weeks to make a movie.

I’m hoping it happens as soon as possible. But I want to be very careful about not putting out false information. I want to get a time and tell everybody when it’s happening and not play with people. Right now, I’m trying to do something else for Netflix and a movie project and things. I’m always sort of superstitious about talking about this stuff before it happens. It’s the best way to guarantee it doesn’t happen.

Another cult TV show getting the movie treatment is Veronica Mars, so I guess if the fans are there, a film is possible. Would YOU see it? I’m kinda over the whole thing, to be honest.

  • Are you kidding? Of course. New season was stellar, it never should have been cancelled in the first place. Definitely will see it.

  • Yeah, the movie has been highly-anticipated by the steadily-growing fanbase (which is now most culturally-aware young people) for years. Do you really not like anything, or is that just part of the job?
