Jack White is having a breakdown, and a seven nation army couldn’t hold him back. Ex-wife model and singer Karen Elson was successfully granted a restraining order against him due to his “bullying.” Weirdly, a huge factor in this was White’s obsession with a rival musician. White wanted to pull his kids out of a certain class because this musician’s kids were also in the class, and White believed that this musician “ripped him off” and apparently this filled him with rage. Yeah, none of this really makes sense.
TMZ naturally got a hold of Mr. White’s emails that Ms. Elson showed the judge in a bid to grant her order. And these emails reveal who White’s most hated musician is — Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys. Here’s an excerpt from his emails explaining why he can’t handle his kids in the same class as Auerbach’s:
My concern with Auerbach is because I don’t want the kids involved in any of that crap … That’s a possible twelve f-cking years I’m going to have to be sitting in kids chairs next to that asshole with other people trying to lump us in together….[Auerbach] gets yet another free reign to follow me around and copy me and push himself into my world.
DUDE, GROW THE F-CK UP!!!!
The emails go on and on and on. Some gems, his own lack of capitalization and misspellings included:
- “congrats karen, you’ve changed your mind again. it makes you look really childish. […] if you are trying to say you only want me to see my kids two days a week you are crazy. dont you see how much you only care about things benefit you? if it works for you its great. you don’t give a damn what’s good for me.
- “its so easy for you to sit here and thing youre taking the high road.”
- “you have shown me so much disrespect in the past few months and you sit there saying you want to have a better relationship with me? haha jesus. you dont get to have it both ways karen. i am NOT ever going to therapy with you and acting out some bullshit so you can tell your friends you did the right thing.”
- “where do you get this villany from?”
What disappoints me most about this is that he doesn’t know the difference between “it’s” and “its.” Whatever, come at me.
jack white is a hack. i’ve always dug his tunes actually (raconteurs anyone?), but he is a hack, and so are the black keys, though also groovy. white dudes, you do not own this old style of music that has been done time & time again, so shut the fuck up. did you guys see IT MIGHT GET LOUD? was great until jack opened his bloated pompous mouth. just sit there, strum & look perdy for me, JW. and don’t smile; those gums are atrocious.
Jack has obviously gone 5150, whether drug induced or just plain flipped. He doesn’t need therapy with his ex as much as he needs therapy to save his own sanity. How could he feel threatened by somebody’s kids?! The price of genius is high, but I hope not too high for Jack White. Get well soon!
That’s the scandalous content of his “threatening” letters? Yeah, it’s kind of dickish, but that’s not unheard of in a divorce. Based on that a restraining order seems extreme
