Jade Goody Can’t Even Spin in Her Grave

jade_goody_memorial

Jade Goody, whose funeral is scheduled to take place on April 4th,  is literally not even in the ground yet, and they’ve already begun casting for the film about her life. The Mail Online reports that “earlier this week it was revealed that trustees of the 27-year-old reality TV star’s estate want to turn her second autobiography, Catch A Falling Star, into a movie.”

Earlier this week? Correct  me if I’m wrong, but didn’t Goody pass away just one week ago? That means that days after her death, her trustees were on the phone, not with the funeral home or grieving family members, but with producers and casting agents. Strike while the iron is hot guys!

Actress Michelle Ryan has reportedly been picked for the role, but rumors are also flying that Ugly Betty and Extras star Ashley Jensen is also being considered.

In other news that you won’t be able to decide whether or not is disturbing or sweet, Jade’s husband Jack Tweed plans to auction off her clothes to raise money for cancer charities that helped care for her.

This kind of shit is what makes you feel conflicted and weird about celebrity death. Is it a touching tribute to her memory? Or just macabre and exploitative? Or was she exploiting herself and wouldn’t care that her husband is selling off her clothes before she’s even been buried?

  • When I die I would like to have my coffin fashioned with a lazy susan, or a turn table of some type. It should constantly spin.

When people ask, ” Hey? whatever happened to Tom Cruise?”
I want the answer to be, “Oh that bitch is spinning in his grave!”

    This would please me.

  • Nice, Tom!

My mother has already drawn up her will to include being made into a lavender diamond, and she’s still designing the necklace for it.

Anyway, I think Jade was firmly in the “exploit as much as you can” camp. Hell, she exploited herself to giver her children a financial future. As trashy as some people think she was, I think that makes up for everything.

    • So who in the family gets to wear the necklace?

I may turn my cat into an itty bitty diamond. The process costs like $3,000 though, isn’t it?

      • She’s deluded herself into thinking I will one day magically become straight and provide her with granddaughters.

The price varies according to the size and color of the diamond you want, and it further varies by company. She picked out one from Italy because they can do the color she wants.

  • Normally I would find this sort of thing really gross but I think the more people find out about Jade’s life the more empathy they will have for her. She didn’t start out in life on a good footing so to make herself into a millionaire at such a young age with so little education is really kind of impressive. I doubt Jade would mind.

  • I think Jade would be cool with it. Her claim to fame was reality shows, she sort of represents the cutting edge in reality/exploitation marketing.

She was very clear that life had handed her an opportunity to see her boys all right and she grabbed it with both hands. She could have died quietly, instead she chose to go out in a rainbow of photo ops and merchandising.

By doing so, she secured her sons’ future and garnered a great deal of attention to the cause of screening for cervical cancer in the young. More power to her, and I doubt she’d mind her clothes earning some extra cash for cancer or her estate being further enlarged for her heirs.

    • I agree, although there is a weird, mobius-strip quality about this woman’s life. The “living (and dying) for television” choices she and her heirs have made make you wonder where her life as a private individual began and ends. I guess this is a case of striking while the corpse is hot. I hope that her estate is well-managed so that her little boys do, in fact, inherit something useful and there are no future lawsuits-in-waiting in this scenario.

  • watch it all come out now. jack will try and milk it for all he is worth. The mum will sell the house and spunk the money on drink and drugs. I just hope the two boys never see what their family is like and jeff keeps them safe from it all.

Wait for the stories in the rags from Jack too about “my hell living with Jade” – anything to make money when he gets back out of prison

  • i imagine she planned to auction the gear off and the sooner the better for profits while she is fresh in people’s minds. The money is being donated and will hopefully, hopefully help to fund more screenings etc.
