Busta Rhymes Is Really Passionate About Burgers, I Guess

Uh, so what the hell is wrong with Busta Rhymes? After taking a few friends to Cheeseburger Baby in Miami Beach in the early hours of Wednesday morning, the rapper became aggressive and went on a violent and homophobic rant when he wasn’t allowed to cut in line and received his mustard, ketchup and mayo on the side rather than on his burger, as per store policy. I can’t even with this story.

From The Huffington Post:

“It’s degrading,” said Vitori, who is gay. “Thirteen years and every celebrity in there, and I’ve never had a problem.”

Vitori said the restaurant was slammed as usual after South Beach clubs let out, but “one of [Rhymes’] crew came in and said, ‘Can you take my order first? We’re very important people.'”

Cheeseburger Baby employees declined. “It doesn’t matter [who you are], it’s first come first served,” Vitori said.

But despite being served his to-go bag within 10 minutes, Vitori said Rhymes became enraged that his mayonaise, ketchup, salt and pepper were included on the side — something she said Cheeseburger Baby does as a rule to prevent soggy buns.

According to Vitori, after an employee explained the policy to the 40-year-old rapper, he allegedly screamed, “F-ck you, fag! I’m not leaving until I get ketchup, mayo, salt and pepper on my burger,” and he began coming over the counter. “F-ck you, bitch,” he said, turning to Vitori.

Vitori told HuffPost she called police and instructed employees to open Rhymes’ mayo and ketchup packets and dress his burger to get him out of the restaurant. He left before Miami Beach Police arrived, but Vitori says she filed a report — and then had to call police again after a member of Rhymes’ party called later to say the rapper would be returning. Officers stayed at the restaurant until staff closed up.

“Over putting ketchup, mayo, salt and pepper on a burger? For real, you can’t open up a mayo and ketchup packet?” Vitori said. “It’s not right. I’m a gay business owner, and you don’t use that term. It’s degrading.”

Busta has been a pretty vocal proponent of gay rights in the past (and by that I mean, he once said that the world should just accept all couples already) so I don’t think he actually meant this in a degrading way, but of course it’s going to get spun like that. This Vittori guy doesn’t have a problem with the other employee being called a bitch, so let’s not split hairs (and no, I’m not equating the two, but colloquially speaking, they were probably being used in the same way).

In any case, this story is ridiculous and I love that Busta Rhymes lost his shit over a cheeseburger. Frankly, I’d be thankful that I got to put on my own ketchup because sloppy line cooks sometimes put too much on or get it all over the outside of the bun, which takes away from the eating experience. Be thankful for the courtesy, my man.

  • “…so I don’t think he actually meant this in a degrading way,”

Yea, right. And I’ll have some of what you’re smoking.

    • These same people also think folks like Jay-Z and other rappers have converted to supporting gay marriage and gay rights.

Keep dreaming. They are just as homophobic as before, they just keep their mouths shut or hypocritically mouth platitudes.

  • So if called him a stupid fucking nigger to his face, you would assume I didn’t mean it in a degrading way? Face it jenn, he’s your typical homophobe bigot.

  • Really?! Calling women Bitches as a defaultnis horribly wrong and offensive, absolutely. However, how dare you say it is splitting hairs that people are more offended he called someone a faggot! If this were any white celebrity doing the exact same thing except calling someone the n word instead of faggot this would be written in a totally different way. Im white, so the n word is not mine to use, busta is straight, and clearly a jerk, so faggot is not his word. Leave that for those of us who have been targeted with it for a long time.
