Whimsy Fest 2013: Taylor Swift Is Going to Guest Star On ‘New Girl’

Taylor Swift is still not content with ruining the music world (I kid! I love you, TSwift!) and has decided to further widen her repertoire to television, where she’ll be joining sister in whimsy Zooey Deschanel over on New Girl during the show’s upcoming season finale.

From Entertainment Weekly:

Taylor Swift is guest-starring in the May 14 episode of the Fox comedy, EW has learned. The country pop star will play a character named Elaine, who is an “important guest” at the wedding of Cece (Hannah Simone) and Shivrang (Satya Bhabha).

The singer-songwriter and  New Girl fan has been name-checked multiple times on the show this season: In one episode, Schmidt (Max Greenfield) sent Cece a text in which he said he was going through a “Taylor Swift-like range of emotions,” while in another, Nick (Jake Johnson) tried to cheer up a heartbroken Jess (Zooey Deschanel) with unfortunate dance moves while she moaned, “I just wanted to listen to Taylor Swift alone,” and “22? played in the background.

I mean, I know Taylor was in Valentine’s Day and did that whole CSI thing, but I feel like New Girl is the perfect vehicle for her particular brand of la-di-da, pixie joie de vivre, or whatever the hell it is. I haven’t watched New Girl since towards the end of the first season because I’m terrible on watching TV when it’s not something I can binge through entire seasons on, but I will get to it eventually.

  • I really like you Miss Jennifer and your style of writing. If feel it is very unfair to you for me to say this but… I would love it if the writer if my favorite website would share the same opinion as I do regarding all these annoying tweens. I got hooked on EB quite some time ago and the snarky and bitchy tune that carried this site made me sort of fall in love with it at first sight. None of all that pretentious Hilton fucking BS. No. Beet was straight up serving it. And I know I can not change your view on certain artists and I know you got this job because you are cut out for it but you know. I just want to have someone to share my celebrity frustrations with. So, if you could do me one favor it would mean a lot to my tiny, sometimes ice queen hart: bring back Leann Rimes. And it’s OK to not write something positive about every celeb in every article to counterweight the bitchiness. We come here for the bitchiness. Well, I do. One Love man ( Jamaican accent?).

  • A Taylor-Swift-like range of emotions . . . that’s not much of a range. Gross. Can’t stand her. Marking this show down now as one to never watch. And I think EB jumps on the Taylor Swift bandwagon at its own peril . . . .

  • Nooooooooo! Please say it isn’t so. One of my fave shows and I won’t be able to watch the finale thanks to that annoying little girl Taylor. Don’t know why she is babied by hollywood after her ridiculous antics and little talent.

  • Thank god I stopped watching a long time ago.. Zooey gets more and more annoying, then Olivia Munn showed up and now this whiner. Good god.
