Benedict Cumberbatch Is Really Sherlock, Catches His Own Stalker

If Benedict Cumberbatch was like Sherlock in real life, he probably would have figured out he had a crazy stalker before she started live-tweeting his every move. But wait! His detective skills did come into play eventually, because he never actually had to call the police before figuring out who was behind it all.

From The Telegraph:

“I would say that it was the strangest fan experience that I’ve ever had,” Cumberbatch tells Mandrake. “I had someone live tweeting my movements while I was in my own house.

“It was such a strange and a direct thing to see these tweets saying what I was doing as I was doing them. I found it really worrying, and, yes, of course, very hard to deal with. I worked out after a while who it was who was doing it so, when it came to it, I didn’t actually call in the police, but I was prepared to do so.

“I’m not going to say any more about it. The person concerned knows now what I felt about it. I just found it very hard to come to terms with the idea that an individual could look into my house like this, and talk about me online, and think it is a perfectly okay thing to do.”

Wait, so this is someone he actually knows? How in the hell did he not go to the police and get a restraining order at the very least against this crazy? I’m probably one of the most paranoid people in the world (I get antsy when my best friends bring things up about me that I don’t remember having told them – I’m a little nuts), so I would have been down the station at the very first tweet.

I feel like because Sherlock is a bit of a niche program, the person stalking him was probably a really particular type of weird. I wish he’d talk more about it!

  • The giving up your privacy aspect of celebrity sucks. Live-tweeting someone’s every movement in their own home is sick, but not so far removed from the way celebrities are tracked when they’re out and about.

However, I love me some Cumberbatch, and I’m really happy to see Evil Beet reporting on him! More Cumberbatch! (But hopefully not more stories about his privacy being violated)
