Yes, @mireee. Even if people think “Girls” is somewhat entertaining, which I do, “Tiny Furniture” was a terrible indie-film. If that was the premise for “Girls”, it’s even more obvious how much help she’s had, that wasn’t deserved, based off of her film.

Lena Dunham indeed does get more exposure because she is a woman in a man’s world, but I’m not being oversensitive. I just am calling out Dunham on her shit because she speaks like her shit doesn’t stink. She has got as much self-awareness as a goldfish in a fishbowl, and I am sick of people praising her when there are many talented women out there who don’t have her connections and therefore can’t succeed like she has.

What you see expressed in the above tweets is a type of person I loathe … the sittin’ in front of (whichever) bookstore pretending to be knowledgeable and having no *bleeping* clue. There is a bonus if there is a guitar involved.

Miree you are completely right! I think the wider problem is that people idolize celebrities too much. Why should a singer be a role model? Why not a teacher, doctor, news anchor? Every second kid is focused on being a superstar and that’s why we end up with droves of tone deaf people trying out for American idol.

I love Lena Dunham. Is her show ridiculous in the way it shows spoiled white girls living in the city? Yes. Is it wonderful? Yes. This bitch is doing what SHE wants, and I think that’s awesome. You know why everything she does is so controversial? It’s because she’s not pretty. I hate to say it, because I love her, but it’s true. If this were a below average looking male comedian, nobody would care what she says or what she does. In fact, Daniel Tosh got away with a shitload of over offensive jokes until I think he finally broke the camels back with that whole rape joke towards that girl. Lena Dunham wasn’t even making a joke about Rihanna. She was being serious, and she didn’t even bash Rihanna. So I think you are being extremely oversensitive.
