Wait—Now Lindsay Lohan Didn’t Punch Anyone, OK?

From TMZ:

Lindsay Lohan is adamant … she did NOT punch that fortune teller at a NYC nightclub this week — but she did call her the g-word … because the fortune teller’s buddies tried to steal Lindsay’s purse.

Lindsay’s telling friends … Tiffany Mitchell approached her inside the club Avenue early Thursday morning to do a reading, but Lindsay turned her down — then noticed Tiffany’s friends crowding around her purse at a nearby table.

When Lindsay returned to her table, the people in Lindsay’s group informed her that Tiffany’s friends had swiped the purse — a super expensive black leather Celine — so Lindsay angrily confronted the fortune teller.

Lindsay has admitted calling Tiffany a “gypsy” but says she did not know the word is considered a slur.

As for hitting Tiffany — Lindsay’s totally denying that … and feels she’s the victim of yet another setup.

Oh, so it wasn’t over a dude, and Lindsay didn’t punch anyone. It’s all coming together now, I get it. It’s definitely just got to be all a set-up, and as for calling this Tiffany girl a “gypsy”? Totally not at all offensive. Lindsay didn’t know that she was referring to an entire group of people in a racist manner when she said it, she just said it because duh, fortune tellers and gypsies are the same thing.

Come on. Who the f-ck am I kidding? I don’t even know what a gypsy really is (I was never a big history buff), how can I expect Lindsay Lohan to know the difference between a fortune-telling gypsy and an actual gypsy that migrated from India to Europe in the 14th century (because that is what that is, right)?

  • Sorry to correct you, but gypsies are from Romaina… And, does it really surprize anyone that Lindsey is calling it a set up…again ? There must be people in the club to attest to the smack down, yes? Please, someone lock her up and throw away the key…please. Or at least keep her on the East Coast.. I’d feel a little safer.

    • Romas are not from Romania. They are nomadic people who emigrated from India to Europe. The biggest Roma populations are in Romania and Spain, with large groups concentrated in Britain and France.

  • Ok. I’m not interested in Lindsay’s version of what happened in her alternate reality but I really don’t understand the racism cries. Was the lady a gypsy or not? Is calling someone gypsy derogatory? Because TLC has a reality show named My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding. Or is it racist bc Lindsay was assuming she was a gypsy and she was another ethnic group. Please excuse my ignorance and educate me. I’m lost.

    • Because Gypsies are an actual type of people, saying “That guy gypped me” isn’t much nicer than saying “That guy jewed me.” A lot of people here in the US might not be aware of the prejudice that still goes on in Europe, nor are they necessarily familiar with the “Gypsies” who are here. (My adoptive father’s mother was Czechoslovakian and immigrated to the US sometime during the first World War.)

    • Apparently, alright, and this is what I know from asking Roma people, gypsy is a slur except for English and Spanish gypsies (hence why the show is called Gypsy). Whether the show is or not offensive is another issue, but essentially for anyone who’s not English or Spanish, using that word is a slur and they prefer Roma.

    • I agree. And do we really live in a world where we’re acting like “gypsy” carries the same weight as the n-word?

  • It doesn’t really matter if she didn’t mean it in a racist way, she was trying to be nasty about her, calling her a gypsy because she thinks she’s better than us peasants. She didn’t punch her and we’re suppose to just believe her version, because she wasn’t driving that car either. I truly hope there is a tape of this because it’s hard to believe anyone or anything, anymore, about this messed up woman.

  • It is derogatory to call someone a gypsy because of the horrible reputation they have,I.e… Con artists, inbreds, thieves , vagabonds… Now that it all spelled out, maybe Lindsey is a gypsy !

    • I know women who are into the “gypsy” thing. They like gypsy art and call themselves “gypsies” because they’re unstable and always moving. I know others who pretend they are “the epitome of bohemianne”. For most trendy women, it’s like a game. They used to pretend they are “witches” too – or how about pretending they’re “sisters” when they’re not? I don’t play those girly games.

  • Lindsay is starting to sound like she has a dissociative identity disorder. There are always a few versions of ‘reality’ and hers doesn’t match any one else’s.

  • It’s like calling someone white trash. Gypsies are con artists, thieves and not very clean. They move around a lot and have lots of babies. My b/f is from Ukraine and tells me his father was kidnapped by gypsies when he was a small boy and they pierced his ears (lol) but was recovered. He tells me stories about how they were regarded as something you fear or look down upon. My grandparents on my mother’s side are from Czechoslovakia (grandpa) and Poland (grandma) and my father is from Spain so they also tell me the same thing. Some people may not mind being referred to as one if they like to move around a lot or enjoy the culture. But generally they are dirty people who steal to get by among other things like living communally in tents so they can move around trying to make quick money and rip people off and kidnap children to put to work as well.

Calling this woman a gypsy probably was meant in a insulting manner but Lindsay may not have realized that it was racist. She knows that gypsies are known as dirty thieves so calling her that was meant as an insult. Some Americans don’t know anything about gypsies as it is not apart of thier culture, so she will use that as an excuse. But she def at least knows that the term can be used as an insult so she said it to piss this woman off.

    • Also, they are known to be loud, obnoxious, drunks and now a days, into gaudy fashion. That show on TLC highlights this type of behavior so calling someone a gypsy can be insisting depending how you look at it. It’s like My Big Redneck Vacation or Wedding etc.. They highlight the redneck lifestyle. And some people would be offended if you called them a redneck or white trash while others are proud to be rednecks who love their outdoor, hunting, fishing, country music, gun toting, loud and wild lifestyle.
