Oh No You Didn’t, Chris Brown

A photo of Chris Brown

Guys. I am angry with Chris Brown. I’m not just rolling my eyes, I’m sincerely upset with him. And don’t laugh, but it’s because of a picture he posted on Instagram.

He still hasn’t reactivated his Twitter account after that gross fight he got into over the weekend, but his Instagram account is still active. Here’s what he posted:

That awkward moment when the only person u can relate to in the world is dead.

And the picture?

Tupac. Motherf-cking Tupac. I just can’t with this. Is Chris really serious here? He really thinks the only person he can relate to is Tupac? I can’t.

For whatever else Tupac may have done, he was really, really smart, and so incredibly talented. He’s widely regarded as one of the most, if not THE most, talented rappers of all time, and he’s definitely one of the most influential. Chris Brown, while he may be able to sing and dance and rap all right, is just not in the same league. At all.

Look, here are some lines from one of Chris Brown’s songs:

Girl I just wanna see you strip, right now cause it’s late, babe
Girl I just wanna see you strip, girl take your time with it
Girl I just wanna see you strip God damn you’re sexy (for meeee)
God damn you’re sexy! (babbyyy) God damn you’re sexy!
Girl I just wanna see you…

And here are some lines from one of Tupac’s songs:

I see no changes. All I see is racist faces
Misplaced hate makes disgrace to races we under
I wonder what it takes to make this one better place…
let’s erase the wasted
Take the evil out the people, they’ll be acting right.
‘Cause both black and white are smokin’ crack tonight.
And only time we chill is when we kill each other.
It takes skill to be real, time to heal each other.

You show me one Chris Brown song that has even half the depth of a Tupac song, and I’ll show you a mirror so you can look at one misguided soul. Chris Brown could never be as good as Tupac on any level, and it sort of honestly offends me that he thinks he can relate to him. Is that weird?

  • tupac was very disliked (like chris brown) by mainstream media until he died.

hell martin luther king jr was hated by mainstream media until he died

if i was him i would give everyone the finger log off and enjoy my life.

“lions is not concerned with the opinions of sheep”

  • and if you wasn’t a fan of pac in ’95 dont be one in ’12 cause if pac was still alive you would be putting him and chris brown in the same boat

    • That’s not fair. In 1995 I was 7 and I didn’t speak English. Being a new fan doesn’t mean being less authentic.

  • Emily, you hit the nail on the head with this one. What a crazy mofo. I just don’t even have time for him. Or Rihanna.

  • think we should boycott chris brown a la heidi and spencer… eventually we will never hear about this jackass again.

  • I think John is an employee of Chris Brown payed to defend his honor on internet blogs around the globe. It`s ok John we understand, the economy has been harsh on everyone…

  • Tupac was amazing. I hate rap, yet with Tupac it’s a totally different thing. He was/is on a different level.

Did anyone see that concert where they did the 3D hologram and he ‘performed’? Did anyone else get surprisingly emotional? Because damn…I was shocked at how much of an effect that had on me.

  • “And since we all came from a woman
Got our name from a woman and our game from a woman
I wonder why we take from our women
Why we rape our women, do we hate our women?
I think it’s time to kill for our women*
Time to heal our women, be real to our women
And if we don’t we’ll have a race of babies
That will hate the ladies, that make the babies
And since a man can’t make one
He has no right to tell a woman when and where to create one
So will the real men get up
I know you’re fed up ladies, but keep your head up.” Keep Ya head Up – Tupac.

    FUCK OFF CHRIS BROWN.

    • Not trying to be an asshole here….but does tupac get a pass on serving time for sexual assault and all the other violent episodes of his life because he was a brilliant poet?
