Today's Evil Beet Gossip

Hey, So We Have a New/Old President Now!

And I don’t know about many of you guys, but I am thrilled to pieces. Jeez, it was like some people thought that old, crapheaded Mitt Romney was the second coming of Christ or something. But hey—I’m not going to sit around and lambaste the election-loser’s supporters, or even the election-loser himself, because one, that’s just not cool, and two, his concession speech was actually pretty nice, and thoughtful, and genuine (I think). He fought the good fight and he had a lot of support, which is saying a lot, and I respect that.

But anyway, here’s the best bits of Obama‘s win speech:

It [the furthering of America] moves forward because of you. It moves forward because you reaffirmed the spirit that has triumphed over war and depression, the spirit that has lifted this country from the depths of despair to the great heights of hope, the belief that while each of us will pursue our own individual dreams, we are an American family and we rise or fall together as one nation and as one people. … the best is yet to come.

I want to thank my friend and partner of the last four years, America’s happy warrior, the best vice president anybody could ever hope for, Joe Biden.

And I wouldn’t be the man I am today without the woman who agreed to marry me 20 years ago. Let me say this publicly: Michelle, I have never loved you more. I have never been prouder to watch the rest of America fall in love with you, too, as our nation’s first lady. Sasha and Malia, before our very eyes you’re growing up to become two strong, smart beautiful young women, just like your mom. And I’m so proud of you guys. But I will say that for now one dog’s probably enough.

… Despite all our differences, most of us share certain hopes for America’s future. We want our kids to grow up in a country where they have access to the best schools and the best teachers. A country that lives up to its legacy as the global leader in technology and discovery and innovation, with all the good jobs and new businesses that follow.

America, I believe we can build on the progress we’ve made and continue to fight for new jobs and new opportunity and new security for the middle class. I believe we can keep the promise of our founders, the idea that if you’re willing to work hard, it doesn’t matter who you are or where you come from or what you look like or where you love. It doesn’t matter whether you’re black or white or Hispanic or Asian or Native American or young or old or rich or poor, able, disabled, gay or straight, you can make it here in America if you’re willing to try.

together with your help and God’s grace we will continue our journey forward and remind the world just why it is that we live in the greatest nation on Earth.

Thank you, America. God bless you. God bless these United States.

Also, about that Mitt Romney thing I said up there? Some people can be really and truly offensive when it comes to asserting their opinions, and I’m not just talking the gossip-snark-I only mean half of what I say opinion, I’m talking some seriously offensive opinions. A family member, who will go unnamed, actually had the stones to say this to me on Facebook early this morning:

Why the hell didn’t you VOTE [FOR SOMEONE ELSE], Sarah? How sad that you supported this traitor, now we will be taxed and spent into bankruptcy, the nation will collapse, and we may very well end up under the rule of Communist China, and your children will never have the opportunity to vote. But your little sex symbol is winning, ARE YOU HAPPY!?

In kind, I responded with this:

It’s called ‘I voted for Obama because I wanted Obama to win’. Anything above and beyond that is really my business, and no one else’s, and I think it’s rather rude to assume anything else.

And hey, if you’re reading this, friend of mine, this is what I have to say—you put things on the Internet, you just never know where they might end up. Democracy in action … or something.

  • SQUEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
Oh god I am so happy!!!!
Obama has done more to fix the country than any other Pres could ever achieve, I love him and I’m so happy he gets more time to work on it!

      • Well no, because I love a President who actually cares about everybody, not just himself.
I know the repubs are sad that they won’t be able to chain up the poor and the sick to work the fields, but awww never mind diddums.

      • I’m with you.

//AND I voted for Johnson. Although I would have been happier if MR won, as opposed to BO.

Let’s wait to see everyone’s jubilation in three years. Because I sincerely DOUBT there will be any. Nor will there be any person responsibility for supporting this clown now.

  • I vehemently disagree with your jubilation, however this is a celebrity gossip site – not a political one – so I’m glad we can put our differences aside and be equal opportunity celebrity hecklers. Plus, they’ll have the Internet in whatever country I ultimately move to. :)

    • You are aware Ecuador has legalised abortion, has a left-wing Latino president (Rafael Correa), and has Spanish and other indigenous languages as official languages, right?

    • I was actually talking to my husband about Equador being my country of choice as well. We have some friends with a rose plantation right outside of Quito. Regardless of their government, it sure sounds pretty idyllic to live on a self-sustained farm & look at roses all day (then, tube the Amazon on the weekends). Amirite? Come one, ughhh, let’s go! And, Jen, I have a really nice ass, this nation will miss it :) lol

      • “….living on a plantation….” Oh, yeah, you’re a Mitt Witt. Have a nice trip and as for the 2$ a day rose-pickers? They don’t have unions or minimum wage so let them eat cake….if they can find any.

  • Europe is pretty pleased about the outcome. I’ve not been following closely at all, but from what I’ve read on Romney you’re not going to have a good time if you’re foreign/black/female/homosexual. Which is pretty bad seeing that the majority of the USA are at least one of each.

      • Me too! :) I was watching the election live (about 4am in Switzerland) and when I was on my way to work later on EVERYONE in the train, on the streets ect was talking about how happy they are that Obama got reelected!

Oh and btw I thought Romney should have been “disqualified” at that moment when he said he didn’t care about 47% of Americans.

  • Congratulations, US of A. Watching this election and thinking Americans may vote for Romney was like watching someone stab themselves in the eye with a fork and not being able to do anything. Not for Romney (who as far as I know is pretty moderate) but because I think the Republicans have been sequestered by far-right nutjobs in the proverbial tinfoil hat, like the legitimate rape guy or Santorum, or Bachmann, or Palin.

  • I’m sure Romney’s concession speech was incredibly heartfelt, for something he wrote in fifteen minutes. He didn’t prepare one in advance, just an acceptance speech, which makes him an even bigger tool in my book.

  • Congratulations to the US. The reelection of Obama means that American women get to stay in control of their vaginas! HOORAY!!

  • If your family member happened to end up in the ER for psychotic reasons, and I was the one who ended up assessing her (because that’s what I do.) ,I would venture to say that she is a paranoid schizophrenic.
Sorry about my punctuation; I’m having difficulty with my mobile device. You go, girl.

  • I knew this was going to happen. Mitt Romney was going to be within a hares breath of winning only to see Obama run across the finish line. And I am sooo proud Obama Won again !! I kinda picture them as America’s royality. I don’t know why yall can’t see that President Bush was in office when this down hill plunge of the economy began. Obama was elected and he stepped in that big pile that Bush left. President Obama got blamed for it. But it was not his fault. He has done the best he could do for America. Thank God he can continue his work. God Bless America !!!
