Quotables: Rihanna Thinks We Need Closure

A photo of Rihanna

“To the world, I feel like there’s no closure. There’s some obsession that’s continued even throughout when we weren’t friends or couldn’t be friends at all. Hated each other. The world hasn’t let go. They haven’t seen any progress in our friendship, because they don’t see anything, really. So now it’s a bit of a fascination, I guess. I don’t know if people will stop soon, but I feel like as soon as they have closure to it, they will. But they’re not on the inside. They can’t see what I see, unless they’re sitting in my point of view. I guess I’ll learn to accept that.”

Rihanna is, of course, talking about her relationship with Chris Brown.

In the same interview, she also said that she hasn’t been on a date in “like two years” because “no one asks.” Which she says sucks because “I have too many vaginas around me at this point.” LOL @ Rihanna.

But really, I don’t get this. I mean, I know it’s the whole psychology of the domestic abuse victim, so on and so forth, but it’s really, really hard for me to understand. We don’t need closure. We just want her to understand what a bad plan a relationship with Chris Brown is. We just want her to realize that you probably shouldn’t hang out with a dude who viciously assaulted you. And it’s like she doesn’t even get that at all, you know? I have no basis for this, but I assumed that many abuse victims realized on some level that their partner’s behavior is wrong, but with Rihanna is just seems like she doesn’t even know what everyone’s problem is.

So that’s what I would like to have closure with, Rihanna’s ignorance. With the whole Chris Brown aspect, I would just prefer for that not to happen at all, thanks.

And hey, how about that Vogue cover? And how about these photos from Vogue that I’m about to show you? Are you still having feelings about her new haircut?

  • Her hair’s a little too short.

But also, and much more importantly, I only need “closure” with respect to Chris Brown in the form of him . . . no longer existing. He should not be allowed to exist, and it is sickening that he is still alive.

  • Which, I know, is what I say every time that he’s mentioned. I’m either too practical or too cowardly to fix the world myself, so I just bitch about how it should be in comments.

  • I have a friend who dated a Chris Browney dude for 7 years on and off. There was/is no way for her to understand why everyone was so against it.

As in we’;ve been sitting on my kitchen having coffee, she’d have a black eye, and when I’d ask her about it she would ever so calmly explain her boyfriend beat her up but it’s ok because they talked it out.

The interesting thing is, she finally dumped him last year (after having a kid together), not because of the brutal beatings, but because she saw him making out with someone else and that’s something she “just does not tolerate at all”.

    • That is so weird. I will never understand people who forgive their partners (or parents) who hit them. Much less allow it to go on when they have the power to stop it.

  • I honestly don’t understand why anyone gives a shit about either of these two people anyways. They’re boring and predictable. He will act like an ass, she will make excuses for him. blah, blah, blah. They’re both stupid! If she wants to get beat up and look like a pathetic excuse for a woman, then there’s nothing anyone can do to convince her otherwise. She’s drank the Kool-Aid. Let her go.

  • So Rihanna loves to “have fun” apparently by squatting in the weeds. To avoid perhaps the bitch-slappin’ hand of her man?
