Kristen Stewart Gives Another Dumb Interview

A photo of Kristen Stewart

Keep in mind that this is another interview that Kristen did just before that cheating scandal, so she’s still not saying all that much about Robert Pattinson just yet. But soon, friends. Maybe. Hopefully.

But yeah, it seems like everything is falling back into place now, doesn’t it? I’m pretty sure most people have stopped sending Kristen Stewart scarlet letters and death threats, and I haven’t heard anyone gush about how she’s just a little tiny baby girl who made a big boo boo. We’ve all had some time to collect ourselves and stop clutching our pearls, so now I think we’re pretty much back to whatever opinion we’ve always had on these people.

Check out some of these excerpts from Kristen’s latest interview, and see if you can tell why my opinion isn’t that great:

On the end of Twilight: “I’m relieved. Not that it’s finally over but that we told a story from beginning to end. A story I and all my colleagues invested a lot of energy in. I lived in the Twilight world for about four years. That’s a very long time that demands a lot of patience on your part.”

On how she survived the grueling schedule: “Thank God, I had the opportunity to do smaller movies like The Runaways, Welcome to the Rileys, and On the Road in between [shooting the Twilight films]. Otherwise I’d probably have turned mad.”

On the industry being littered with dilettantes: “I would never work with people who aren’t really creative and aren’t committed to what they do,” she told the magazine. “Unfortunately, there are a lot of those people out there, they are f**king everywhere, and they try to suck the soul out of you. For example, I would never do a makeup campaign, even though the [final] photos with me would probably look good. Thank you, but it doesn’t interest me.”

On her life right now: “I notice that, at the moment, I am in an immensely intense phase of my life. It feels like I could burst from all my energy any minute now. And I don’t want this fire burning inside of me to go out.”

Whatever, whatever, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD SHUT UP. I don’t care that she’s throwing Twilight under the bus again, even though I have a big problem with looking a gift horse in the mouth, if you know what I mean. I don’t care that she’s still talking about how intense she is. But that third quote? The one about people who aren’t creative or committed to what they do? That shit drives me up the wall, for real.

She “would never do a makeup campaign, even though the final photos with me would probably look good.” First of all, I hope that’s an issue with the translation or something, because girl. But the idea is the same, regardless of the exact wording, that actors who also do makeup campaigns are somehow not committed to their acting or not creative enough for Very Serious Actor Kristen Stewart. But can I just point out that actresses like Ashley Judd, Queen Latifah, Sofia Vergara, Anne Hathaway, Kate Winslet, Jennifer Gardner, Halle Berry, Jennifer Connelly, and Susan Sarandon have all done makeup campaigns? And that all of those actresses are, without a doubt, more talented than Kristen Stewart?

Also, I guess perfume campaigns are way different, huh?

I think my feelings are fairly obvious, but how are you guys feeling about Kristen these days?

  • The make-up campaign thing was weird.

Honestly, I have such mixed feelings about her doing Twilight. On the one hand, I cannot imagine anyone turning down an offer to be in a huge movie saga. At the same time, you have to live with yourself afterward. With millions and millions of dollars and a bright career ahead of you, but still. Twilight does no favors for women or teenagers, and it is especially damaging to the image of vampires. I love all three groups, and I hate to see them portrayed like that.

    • To be fair I think turning down a big role like that is something nobody would ever do, if anything for the money. Like yes, it can damage your image, but at least people see you and if you act really well, it will do you the world of good (see The Hunger Games and Jennifer Lawrence).

  • The make up thing was really backhanded and out of order, what did she mean? Her dearest Charlize Theron was Dior’s image, does that mean she isn’t committed to acting?

    • That interview and that cover for Germany Glamour was done way before she had accepted Balenciaga but it was just recently published. The US version came out a way back.

  • I used to have some sympathy for K-Stew. I bought into the theory “oh she’s young and shy and still finding her way in a brutal industry”. But… Enough already! Every single time she opens her mouth or flashes the finger or rolls her eyes, she exposes herself as a selfish, ungrateful, self entitled brat who actually believes she deserves uncritical praise for what exactly? Sorry honey, your goodwill has expired. Jennifer Lawrence is twice the actress and has twice the intellect you’ll ever have!
