The Duggars Want More Children, Because Of Course They Do

A photo of Michelle Duggar and Jim Bob Duggar

Michelle Duggar is 46 years old. Jim Bob Duggar is 47 years old. They have 19 children. Their youngest child was born three months premature and weighed one pound, six ounces. Michelle did have another pregnancy, but she miscarried.

Are we all caught up? Yes? Then let’s hear all about how these two want more kids:

Michelle Duggar is not pregnant again — yet — but her husband Jim Bob Duggar just said on national television that the parents of 19 have fun trying to make more babies!

The Duggars premiere the sixth season of 19 Kids and Counting August 28 and on TODAY Friday morning they said that they’re always trying to have more kids.

“We definitely are,” Michelle told Savannah Guthrie about their efforts to have more children.

“We would love more if the Lord saw fit to give us more, so we will wait and see,” the matriarch of the family said as she smiled.

Her husband Jim Bob, in front of his 19 children, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren then made the comment about having sex with Michelle.

“It is fun trying though!” Jim Bob joked and Savannah called him a “sly dog,” for the sexual innuendo.

Michelle, who is 46, said that she loves being pregnant and is hoping little Josie Brooklyn Duggar isn’t her last child.

“It will be a sad day for me whenever we’re not able to have any more children,” but she said that she loves being a grandmother to Josh and Anna Duggar’s two kids.

Oh.  Sure.   Sounds great. Awesome plan. Sounds super solid. Not.

  • I am trying to imagine how having sex with a woman who has given birth that many times is even remotely interesting anymore.

    • Why have healthy already born babies when you can risk your life and the baby’s life? Plus… they’ll lose their T.V. show if she doesn’t pop them our herself, I guess.

  • In understanding the Duggars, which I’ve studied, you have to look at them through the lenses of Bill Gothard. Look him up to understand his evangelical bent.

Then you can get a better idea of their understanding.

A lot of Christians (including Baptists) don’t like Gothard at all.

So when you have a couple of minutes, look up Gothard and Gothardism. (Wiki-thingie has CliffsNotes-level info on Gothard, and that should suffice.)

Note, however, that the wikipedia page is often altered. (Always) Check the history of the page to see what has been altered.

  • I’m starting to wonder where the desire for more ratings/money begins and the desire to serve God leaves off. I would hope that they actually believe they are doing God’s bidding. Because by continuing to try to get pregnant, Michelle’s life and the lives of any potential children are at risk. I would hate to think they would do that for publicity or money.

  • well i mean, if they have the funds to support the kids unlike octomom then whats really the big deal?

    • One problem is their standard system of assigning each new baby to an older sibling, who essentially raises them and does the work pertaining to them. It seems really messed up and potentially dangerous that your sibling is the boss of you, and closer to you than your own parents.

    • when it becomes a danger to the mother and the baby’s health it’s time to stop. If you want more kids, adopt them. It’s not like we ran out of orphans at the orphan store or anything. Having that many kids, even after the danger zone comes into play, is pure selfishness. You’re taking an unnecessary risk… that’s the big deal people are making out of it. :-]
