Kirk Cameron Is So Concerned for Your Well Being

A photo of Kirk Cameron

Is it just me, or has it been way too long since Kirk Cameron last graced us with his startling stupidity? Personally, I’ve been on pins and needles for months, just waiting for Mike Seaver to tell me more about the things that are destroying our civilization, and I’m sure at least some of you feel the same way.

Well, don’t get your hopes up too high, because today we’re only going to hear from darling Kirk through his manager, but still, I think it’s worth it. See, a 17-year-old boy named Corey took it upon himself to invite Kirk to the Garden State Equality’s Youth Caucus so that “in a kind, respectful and constructive way,” they could discuss Kirk’s public statements and so that they could explain to Kirk how hurtful his words have been to them. You can read the letter in full here, but essentially, it’s a very friendly letter from a bunch of teenagers who wanted to have a civil discussion with Kirk about the issues he’s spoken about so hatefully. They heard that Kirk was going to be in the same state on the weekend of their event, and they took a shot.

Here‘s the response from Kirk’s manager:

My name is Mark Craig and I am Kirk’s manager. His schedule is quite hectic with his movie Monumental and working on a new one at the same time, as well as his Love Worth Fighting For events.

He usually flies in the day of the event and after the event is actually traveling to the next one. Because of this intense schedule, there is not time to set up extra meetings like you are suggesting. That being said I would normally just write a simple reply, “Thanks for your invitation, however Kirk’s schedule will not permit,” but because you have taken some time to share some of your feelings, Kirk asked me to personally thank you on his behalf for your kind invitation and is very sorry he can not attend because of the schedule that weekend. I also want to thank you for taking the time to write and share your heart in your letter.

For this reason, I want to share this thought with you, from someone who sees and works with Kirk almost everyday of the year – I promise you his goal is not one of trying to hurt people in any way, in fact it is just the opposite. He has a concern for their well being – not only now, but eternally. He goes out to share a positive message through events like this weekend and I assure you he will only be presenting a positive/ inspiring message.

I would like to suggest if you really are interested in Kirk’s thoughts on the matter, you can listen online to the interviews and comments Kirk has shared where he was given ample time to communicate his heart and thoughts. I hope you can attend the event and see for yourself.

Silly kids, Kirk Cameron isn’t trying to hurt you! He loves you, and he just wants to make sure that you don’t burn in the fiery pits of hell! Oh, and instead of talking to him about how hurtful his comments have been for you, why don’t you just go ahead and listen to those comments again! Problem solved! You ol’ sillies!

But seriously, Kirk Cameron is the worst.

  • You know what? You are bullying a man because of his religious beliefs. That’s not cool, I don’t care how awesome your little blog is. And he expresses his beliefs far more respectfully and politely than you do yours. I don’t need to share his views to recognize class.

The asshole in this exchange? Is not Kirk Cameron. Grow up.

    • That is utter bullshit.
HE tells people that they are going to hell, because they don’t think what he thinks and live how he lives. He is the bully, he imposes himself on others. It’s all just a matter of opinion, although his is plainly demented.
Have your imaginary religious beliefs, but don’t INFLICT them on other people.
Gay people say “Let us live as who we are”. That is NOT bullying, and if you think it is you are mentally deficient.

      • Is it impossible to have respect for religious beliefs? Not everyone is Kirk Cameron. I am a Christian, and while I may or may not agree with Kirk Cameron’s opinion, I respect it, because that IS his belief. People can choose to listen to his beliefs, just as much as they can choose to listen to your obvious non-beliefs. Calling people demented, and mentally deficient…THAT’S bullying.

      • Oh, so they have to choose to try and not HEAR him telling them they are going to hell?! He gets to still harangue them and talk down to them?!

Perhaps you deliberately don’t get it. (Because the other option doesn’t please you.)
He can believe what he wants but he has no right to INFLICT IT ON OTHERS.
        HIS behaviour shows no respect.

I will RESPOND to the words of bullies, and if need be I will talk like them to get through to them. Gay people asking to live their lives is NOT them bullying anyone, and if you think it is you simply ARE mentally deficient.

      • So he’s free to be religious, as long as he doesn’t say anything you object to? I doff my hat to your sophisticated understanding of freedom of conscience, not to mention the subtleties of theology. And wow, the class of your closing line. Keep talking, nothing changes minds like drooling venom and illiterate bile. (Also to keep doing: the caps.)

Those of you sick of this nonsense, if you contact EB’s advertisers and tell them you’re boycotting them because Christian-bashing isn’t ok, that’ll get Emily’s attention.

      • Kirk Cameron and friends say that if you’re gay, you’re unnatural, destructive to society, and going to hell.

We are saying that it’s rude to say that.

        How are we the bullies.

    • I don’t think I’m bullying him, but if I am, I’m definitely not bullying him for his religious beliefs. I’m not saying “oh, Kirk Cameron is a Christian, so lame,” and I never would, I’m saying “oh, Kirk Cameron thinks an entire group of people is destroying society, so lame.” I think that’s a pretty huge difference.

Even if he had said that he didn’t agree with homosexuality, whatever. I’d disagree, obviously, but I’d let it go. But he said that gay people are “unnatural,” and that homosexuality is “detrimental and ultimately destructive to so many of the foundations of civilization.” That’s not a religious belief, that’s just a cruel thing to say, and I certainly don’t think it’s anything close to respectful or polite.

Also, when you’re a kid and you hear something like that, having someone tell you that they’re just looking out for you well being “not only now, but eternally,” isn’t really a comfort. It’s just another person saying that you’re going to go to hell for being the person that you are. Those kids aren’t going to read that and think “oh, that’s nice then.”

  • Sometimes people’s religions need to be bullied because they hurt other people and try to control the lives of those who are not affiliated with the religion. Kirk’s religion challenges the beliefs and way of life of a group of people. Why should he live with out question or criticism, lest we offend his or someone’s sensitive, delicate religion. No one is asking him to stop believing what he believes, what wrong with having a discussion about it, regardless of the opinion position?

  • it’s true. i’m so sick of gays bullying straight people, who even cares anymore. everyone needs to just chill, kirk cameron is fine, so is everyone else, let’s live our own lives like we’re SUPPOSED TO and get on with it

  • Yeah no fuck it, I’m sick of putting the other cheek when these cunts say I’m going to hell because I don’t live my life like they would want me to. They tell me I am going to hell, I am going to tell them to get fucked, and if they don’t like hearing it perhaps they should shut the fuck up about people’s intimate choices.

    • No, see, when someone says something to you that’s complete bullshit and totally offensive, then you can’t say anything back to them, because that would be, like, SO disrespectful.
