From TMZ:

Our law enforcement sources confirm detectives found “several little baggies in the bedroom.” One law enforcement source says the powder is being tested and suggests it could be cocaine or crushed Vicodin.

We’re told there were no obvious signs of white powder on Sage’s body when he was found.

As we first reported, authorities found “huge” empty prescription bottles in Sage’s bedroom. A law enforcement source has now elaborated, telling TMZ they found “more than 60 gigantic bottles, like the ones in pharmacies.”

Authorities know the bottles contained Hydrocodone — generic Vicodin.

I used to have this friend who thought it was just the greatest thing in the world to crush up and snort Vicodin. I never really understood it. She’d like, do it right in front of me, even though I’d long said that I had this issue with being around people who put things up their noses, and I’d just kind of marvel in fascination. I mean, I don’t care if it’s cocaine or Pixy Stix. How could FORCEFULLY INHALING something up your nasal cavity be anything but bad? She eventually stopped, but damn. That was a really bizarre time. I hope that’s not the case for Sage here.

Also, new word on the street says that investigators are looking to find out who prescribed the pain medications to Sage, but I can’t assume that’s all that hard. I’ve got a bottle of prescription allergy medicine sitting to my right, and plain as day it says my doctor’s name and when she prescribed it. Can’t imagine that kind of protocol varies too much from state to state, you know? Unless I’m misinterpreting facts here, it sounds like we’re dealing with a bunch of class A sleuths.

  • There’s no such thing as a BIG bottle of Vicodin in ANY patient’s house in this country. Vicodin is a strictly controlled drug. I’m pretty sure it’s a Class 2 drug. Class 1 drugs are heroin, cocaine, etc. He could only get a 30 day supply with no refills. The doctor has to re-write the prescription. I’m sure celebrities have no problem getting any kind of drugs they want, but Sage’s prescriber is going to lose his license to practice medicine, end of story. Sage could have been going to a whole bunch of doctors and getting them to fill out multiple prescriptions, but I think the FDA is trying to crack down on that. At any rate, I don’t know how they could determine suicide any more than they could determine accidental O.D.

    • Drug stores have big bottles of various drugs because they buy in bulk. When your physician calls in a prescription, they print out a label and stick it on a little bottle.

Then the pharmacist puts pills in a counting tray and puts those into your bottle.

The big bottles have a tracking number (if memory serves) but these are things that are stolen from pharmacies. They broke into a CVS near me recently. Each pharmacy generally only has 1 bottle each of controlled stuff.

I can’t remember how many pills are in a bulk bottle (and it depends on size), but I imagine it is between 500 and 1k.

      • goodness, you know so much about meds. : / makes sense after reading the various novels you’ve written here.

      • LOL

        Novels.

And my pharmacology isn’t very good, but I’m profoundly gifted and have a good (far from perfect) memory, so I pick up stuff even when I breeze over things. *shrug*

        Go figure.

Anyway, I read 1 paperback novel page in under 10 seconds with full manipulable visualization. For me, several screens of posts take a few (3?) seconds. I forget it can take other people longer.

Besides, reading is GOOD for you. :)p

Amphetamines are normally taken for focus (like Adderall), but I prefer Picamilon. I assume that is what you were referring to. :)

      • Apparently, one that writes too-long posts! :)p

Besides, I’d hate to be a brain in a jar. It actually is possible (although highly unethical I’d imagine) but you’d have to have another poor bastard to attach me to.

What good (use) is very high intelligence anyway?

On another note: they look for one to determine suicide and a couple of other causal factors; like giving away property, making fatalistic statements, and so on. Usually a suicide is telegraphed in actions but sometimes the person is so isolated “proof” can be impossible.

Accidental overdose is typically the case where synergistic effects in the system (like stomach contents, alcohol and some other drug or condition, etc.) indicate that death was a “close call”. Overkill would be murder/suicide.

Hydrocodone’s effects are reductive, in that you have to take more to feel good … but the LD50 doesn’t change.

Plus, taking alcohol is an iffy way to potentiate (make stronger) some drugs, but variable in effect. That’s why they tell you NOT to take stuff with alcohol (or grapefruit juice).

  • nope Vicodin(hydrocodone) can be refilled, Percocet or its like (oxycodone) cannot. If they were HUGE bottles maybe black market riped off from a pharmacy?

    • So Vicodin is a Class 3 drug? Are you sure it’s not the other way around? Percocet can be refilled and hydrocodone can’t? Man, am I way off the subject or what?!

  • This story just gets sadder and sadder. I’m glad you’re covering it, Sarah… you’re doing a great job, but everybody’s right… those types of bottles are illegal, no matter what state you live in.

    • Yeah, good on ya, Sarah. RIP, dear fucked up young Stallone. See? It’s possible to be blunt/crass/whatever the haters want to call it, but still have a heart. I do feel for the family… Can’t deny poor guy was seriously messed up from a lifetime in the dreaded industry. Don’t have to be a child actor to feel the affects.
