Stars Without Makeup: Demi Lovato Is So Lovely

A photo of Demi Lovato

Well, I know that Demi Lovato hasn’t been quite so lovely lately, what with her recent talk of breaking things and trashing dressing rooms “just for the hell of it” and her tired old dating advice, not to mention her mooning over that gross Wilmer Valderrama on Twitter. So yeah, she’s kind of in a rut when it comes to all that, but physically, she’s still gorgeous.

And she’s absolutely stunning in this photo she posted – where else? – on Twitter, with the caption “no makeup!”

Ok, first of all, girl, please. I’m not too great with makeup, and even I can tell that she’s definitely not makeup free. Lips don’t look like that naturally, and most people don’t have skin that smooth. So I’m not just refusing to buy this “no makeup” lie, I actually know for a fact that it’s not true. And I’m offended.

When celebrities go out of their way to be all “look at me, I’m not wearing any makeup!” then they better damn well be telling the truth. They better be Vanessa Minnillo, lounging around all wrapped up in a blanket and eating popcorn. This whole trend of celebrities lying about their makeup is annoying, dishonest, and it seems like a blatant attempt to incite comments like “OMG ur sooooo pretty!!!!” and “I wish I could look as good as you!” Guess what, commenters, people everywhere have been sprucing up their natural appearance for years with this newfangled paint they call makeup, and you can do it too!

I can’t believe I’m saying this, and this really hurts to say, but please shut up, Demi Lovato. For your sake and mine, I need you to just hush your mouth, get off Twitter, and take a moment to collect yourself. You’re still pretty, but you need to tone it down.

    • It’s *whoever* actually. Now stop complaining and learn to set the bar much, much lower when it comes to the content of this site. I mean, half the “stories” are just pictures of Kim Kardashian’s ass. And that’s why we’re here.

      • I feel like someone should hold them accountable for what they’re trying to pass as an “article”.

Beet held this site to a higher standard, and so do I. I used to come here for the snappy and objectionable, yet still informative news articles, not photos of Kim Kardashian’s cottage cheese ass. If The Evil Beet has resorted itself to fluff pieces criticizing the use of lipgloss and moisturizer in a photo captioned, “no makeup!” then I would rather read Perez Hilton.

Try to see the bigger picture, Emily. Demi Lovato has spoken many times about the image that the media projects to young girls, about needing a face full of make up to be “beautiful”, which isn’t true. Demi is a role model for girls of all ages, myself included. It’s extremely refreshing to see her using her influence in the media for the construction of a positive self image despite people like you telling her that this “trend” is annoying and self-gratifying. God forbid she wear lip tint in a low quality photo broadcasted to millions of people. God for-fucking-bid it, because that’s just “dishonest”.

I think you see my point.

      • If she’s trying to tell girls that they’re beautiful without makeup, then why can’t she take a picture without wearing makeup? Why does she have to say “no makeup!” when clearly that’s not the case? It’s “dishonest” by definition.

  • she’s also looking pretty thin, like, lollipop status :/ but she could have the tinted chapstick-some of them claim to be “sheer” but are borderline lipsticks

  • disagree completely. how do you know as “fact” that she is wearing some makeup? i totally believe that she is, as you stated, a beautiful girl even WITHOUT makeup. i’m a very fair skinned girl, blessed to not have pimples often, and my lips are naturally pretty pigmented. she’s clearly not wearing anything on her eyes, why can’t we just accept what she’s saying–that she’s not wearing makeup–and chalk it up to..oh, i don’t know, natural beauty? the cynicism and hatred in this article, not to mention the grand assumptions made (nothing about what you said in any way could be considered “fact”) really disgusted me. what’s the point? give her the compliment of being pretty and quit while you’re ahead, because the things you said in here are spiteful and unnecessary.

  • WATCH YOU MOUTH WHAT YOU SAY ABOUT HER, SHE DID EVERYTHING SHE COULD TO MAKE UP FOR HER MISTAKES! YOU KNOW WHATS GOING ONN IN HER LIFE SO LEVE HER ALONE SHE DOSNT NEED YPUR OPINION! Love you DEMI, Stay Strong! love your album
