A Whitney Houston Update

A photo of Whitney Houston

We still don’t have a ton of information about the death of Whitney Houston, but we do have a few more facts than we did last night. Ready?

– The night before she died, Whitney was spotted partying at her hotel with friends. TMZ talked to some of the hotel staff, who said that Whitney and her friends were drinking and being especially rowdy.

– Whitney’s mother, Cissy Houston, and her cousin, Dionne Warwick, talked to Whitney on the phone about half an hour before she died. They said that nothing seemed unusual with her at all.

– Police were called to Whitney’s hotel room and they arrived shortly afterwards. They tried CPR, but Whitney was pronounced dead at 3:55 PM.

– Whitney’s body was found in the bathtub of her hotel room by someone in her group, but her body was removed before the EMTs got there. So far, police don’t think that foul play was involved, and they found prescription pill bottles in the room. At this point, possible causes of death are drowning and overdose.

And, of course, several celebrities have already weighed in on this sad topic.  There are many, many statements, but I’ll just show you the ones that made me cry the hardest:

Bobby Brown performed a concert with New Edition last night. He said “First of all, I want to tell you that I love you all. Second, I would like to say, ‘I love you, Whitney.’ The hardest thing for me to do is to come on this stage.”

– Gladys Knight said “She was a star from above. Her star may not have been shining for long, but when it did, boy did it shine.”

Bette Midler tweeted “Little by little these deaths kill the best part of each of us, the awe and joy we feel when we hear a gift that can only come from God.”

So that’s it, that’s all we know right now and all I have the heart to tell you. Is anyone else taking this kind of hard? Did anyone actually see this coming? Not in a “crack is whack, LOL” way, but in a “Whitney Houston isn’t going to be around much longer” way. I’d be interested in hearing about it. And, of course, we’ll be keeping you guys updated when more details are released.

  • it’s a shame, and i mean no disrespect to those who loved her madly & mourn her now, but shit, i saw it coming. not shocked at all knowing those videos all over YouTube where she looks squeeky clean & smiley, she was hiiiiiiigh on cocaine & more for YEARS y’all! her poor worn out body, seriously. damn those drugs & damn the doctors passin’ out prescriptions like party favors! to “treat” drug addicts. dicks. hollywood needs to wake the fuck up.

  • Whitney seemed a very private person. wanting to resist complete rehab recovery and adjust to working, going halfheartedly with her career and seeking success again, I think she needed to financially support her family, please her friends and fans.. When she was interviewed and said she was grown up now.. ready to work and live again without drugs, you could see the hurt and lie in that forced statement.. Too much disappointment and little gain.. in her estimation, but she would. Maybe she should have just semi retired, did less because it seems a full and busy life with everyone deeply criticizing her strengths and struggles and giving her a hand now and then when she did well was too invasive.. painful, restrictive and troubling for her to cope with.. not drugged..

  • I am deeply saddened by her untimely demise. She was adored by millions and millions of people all over the world. She was a dignified superstar until she got hit by crack. I hope Whitney’s death will not be put to waste. Hollywood needs to understand that her death should serve as the awakening for everyone — that truly there are those hooked on drugs whomust be helped NOW, not later. May Whitney’s soul rest in peace as she leaves us with the sound of her heavenly voice through her everlasting meanigful songs. You will be missed, Ms. Whitney Houston… :(

  • I have love Whitney the first time I saw her performed. She sung the song “All At Once”. (A beautiful Song and if you listen to the Libric it the way she left us all at once.) All of her songs just touch my heart. I really love this lady. She was very beautiful, too bad she got caught up in drugs. I do not blame Bobby Brown. No one force her down and made her take these drugs and of course it didn’t help her having a husband that did the same thing, but she was a big girl and had the power and know how to say NO! My heart goes out Cissy Houston her mother. I can’t imagine the pain it is to lose your one and only daughter even if she had sister very hard for any parent to lose a son or a daugther. I am so proud of her daughter Bobbi Kristina for staying with her Aunt and Uncle Gary Houston. They will raise her right and she will be look after with lots of support and love from them. She is young, but I hope and pray that she don’t ever think about taking drugs like her mom Whitney. Do not follow her foot steps baby, I know you want to sing but please do not get caught up in the fame and pressures that drove your mom to this. I hope the family takes time to heal (really heal you all had suffer enough). I pray for the family and the love, and hurts you all had for Whitney. I cryed many, many nights. I Could not get her songs out of my head. I love her too even though I personally didn’t know her but millions felt that beautiful spirit she gave to the World. You will be deeply miss Whitney. I love you back and the World and your fans love you too. Hope to see you one day in Heaven. I know you are at peace now. Rest my darling, you are in heaven now, Jesus will comfort you now. God Bless the whole Family and her closest friends and I wish all my heart felt sympathy and especially to her precious daughter, Bobbi Kristina. Teresa
