Yesterday one of our readers pointed out the fact that there was a rumor going around that Jane Carrey, daughter of Jim Carrey, had an appointment for her American Idol audition, and didn’t have to wait or pre-screen like the rest of the contestants normally do. Today, we have confirmation from Radar Online that this does, in fact, appear to be the case:
Jane Carrey, Jim Carrey’s 24-year-old daughter, who is heading to Hollywood on the hit show American Idol, was not treated just like any other hopeful RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned.
Unlike the rest of the contestants who camp out for days in the hope of trying to convince the judges that they have what it takes, Jane got special treatment.
She didn’t have to sleep outside and wait for hours hoping to audition like everyone else,” a source exclusively told RadarOnline.com. “She basically had an appointment and showed up!”
The source said they doubted if the judges knew about the special treatment Jane was given, but the show gave her the VIP service.
“Her audition was pre-arranged with the producers. She did not wait and line up for hours or days outside – she had a time, she showed up and went in,” the source said.
So, OK. Surprise, surprise. A super-celebrity has a kid and, sigh, strings are actually pulled. But I want to know what the girl’s deal is – is she a hellion to work with or something? Because if she was for real about doing the music thing, she might well have relied on daddy’s star power to get her through to some record executives and not gone through the public process that Idol makes their contestants endure.
One way or the other, whether or not this is true, the allegations themselves are definitely not going to make little Jane sympathetic to the public vote. She might get through the next few rounds because of the judges and because of who her dad is, but once everyone starts calling in to vote? Guaranteed she’ll be knocked out the first round. Nobody likes a cheater, after all, and isn’t that kind of what happened here?
