Kelsey Grammer’s Insane Custody Request

Picture of Kelsey Grammer and his Son Mason with Ex-Wife Camille [PHOTOS]

As we all know, Kelsey and Camille Grammer are dunzo, but what’s going to happen to their two young children? If Kelsey has his way, it’s going to be one of the most untraditional (in a totally bad way) custody agreements I’ve ever heard of.

Camille said publicly that Kelsey seemed to be interested in splitting their two children up, with him taking their 6-year-old son to live in Chicago and leaving his 9-year-old daughter behind in California. While Kelsey initially denied that he ever said this (because who in their right mind would publicly admit to favoring one of his children and leaving the other behind to live with her mother) but now there’s legal proof that this is the arrangement Kelsey’s hoping for.

From TMZ:

The letter, dated April 29, 2011, says “Kelsey proposes … Kelsey shall have primary physical custody of Jude and Camille shall have primary physical custody of Mason.”  The letter says Kelsey wants to enroll 6-year-old Jude in a Chicago school.

So there you have it. Frasier is an asshole and I’d like to start a pool on when we think young Mason is going to wind up in the slammer for the first time. I’m guessing like, 3 weeks before his 18th birthday? Drug charges, perhaps?

  • I’ve seen this before; I work in family law. I don’t think it’s terrible – not when both parents retain joint legal custody of the children. So what, one lives with Dad, one lives with Mom. The other doesn’t cease to be a good parent simply because they don’t have the child living with them 24/7.

  • I completely disagree with Stacey, and completely agree with you. It’s not about who is a better parent, it’s about not fucking up somebody else’s life. The kids have been together all their life, and they should stay together, and the law should protect them in that way, because they’re not responsible for mommy and daddy’s mental retardation. So yeah, he’s a douchebag who thinks he can do what he wants, hopefully there’s something thety can do to not separate the kids.

  • Stacey not to be mean or anything but you sould’t listen to people that say that becuse sometimes there wrong ok so be happy that they found someone they love.

  • That’s what a Law Guardian’s for – to listen to the children’s wishes and advocate for them to the Judge. You don’t have to agree, but I don’t agree w/ the blanket assumption that someone’s a ‘tard for wishing their custody to be this way.

  • …I have no idea what you’re trying to say here! I guess my response is that of course, people are sometimes wrong. We make mistakes. I just don’t like painting with as broad a stroke as the author of this article.

  • wow, what a terrible idea to seperate siblings! that is just…deplorable. siblings are the closest relatives one can have, to steal them a shared childhood..this makes me sick!

  • I have to point out that none of you actually know the kids or the parents. How would you like millions of strangers deciding how you should run YOUR family? And remember that in this divorced family there is plenty of money to fly back and forth as well as the phone and Internet to keep everyone connected.
My aunt/uncle/cousins split joint custody this way and it worked out perfectly. It was actually the kids choice as well.
