So apparently, Demi Lovato had much bigger issues than anyone thought. I mean, between the cutting, and the self-esteem problems, it probably wouldn’t have been even remotely surprising if things turned out to be a bit more complicated than they were said to be, and according to Life & Style, there are eyewitnesses coming forward to claim that in addition to Demi’s anger management issues and self-worth problems, drug addiction was a factor in the ‘breakdown’ that resulted in her hospitalization. From Life & Style:
Texas college student Brian Payne clearly remembers the night he spent hanging with Demi in North Richland Hills, Texas, where he saw her firsthand doing cocaine at a mutual friend’s house party on Dec. 28 last year. “She was doing line after line like a pro — and she was 17 at the time,” he tells Life & Style, recalling the wild party they attended after a concert by the band Neon Indian at the Granada Theater in Dallas. “I just remember her doing it as if she had been doing it for a long time. It didn’t seem like something new to her.”
“This is a young girl who got caught up in the fame and fortune of Hollywood and couldn’t see straight anymore,” says another insider. “She had eating issues and emotional issues, and everything else got hitched along with that.”
This is awful, and you know what’s more awful? That people are all like, ‘What do you expect, this kind of stuff happens, it’s Hollywood, she’s famous, everyone does it.’ Why does that bother me? Because the girl is only eighteen years old. And apparently, at least if you believe these ‘eyewitnesses,’ this has been going on for quite some time. A fifteen year-old coke fiend? A thirteen year-old alcoholic? Yeah, it happens, and it’s not ridiculously uncommon, but the way that people act like it’s no big thing just blows my mind. I remember what I was like at seventeen and eighteen years old, and man, I could not imagine going through the stuff that this poor girl has. Adult in age does not necessarily equate maturity and life experience, as you all well know.
Know what I think? I think that if this stuff pans out to be true, that this girl was in much deeper trouble than anyone thought – or admitted – and it was obviously ignored for entirely too long. Demi was the one who hospitalized herself, and Demi was the one who admitted different issues that she’d been experiencing through her rep. Where the fuck was this young girl’s support system through all of this?
