If you didn’t already have a reason to pick up Nicki Minaj’s debut album Pink Friday on November 22nd, then check out this: The Harajuku Barbie is joining forces with CompUSA and TigerDirect to drive donations to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation, one of the biggest and best breast cancer awareness/research foundations.

Nicki released the following statement about the partnership:

“I fully support the efforts of Pink Friday and the goal of raising funds to support Susan G. Komen for the Cure and their charge to bring an end to breast cancer. I am pleased to be associated with the Pink Friday initiatives and to raise awareness amongst fellow African American women who are often the hardest hit by breast cancer.”

Ugh. I love her. I LOVE HER, people! She’s talented, smart and she cares about other women, specifically her fellow African American women. Most artists would release their album without giving charity a second thought, but not Nicki.

Are you planning on picking up a copy of Pink Friday?

A photo of Jeff Bridges on GQ

Yesterday, GQ named Scarlett Johansson their Babe of the Year, and that’s fine.  That’s totally fair.  But today they announced their Men of the Year and for the most part, I just don’t get it.

Jeff Bridges’ official title is Icon of the Year, and maybe I’m young and naive, but why?  Is it because of the new TRON movie? Is it a nod to his work in The Last Unicorn?  It’s probably because of how Crazy Heart was all over the Oscars like a bad case of crabs, isn’t it?  Yeah, that’s probably why.

Then there’s Drake, who’s been named the Breakout of the Year, and I just don’t know who he is.  I mean, I know he sang some songs, but let’s be real, the only time I would have heard of any currently popular hip hop artist would be at the gay bar, and it’s not like I’d ever go up to the DJ and ask for names because I’m always way too focused on my margarita and on talking to this guy who likes to sing Disney songs to me and then pretend like I didn’t notice that he just snorted something off his hand.  So I apologize, Drake, but I’m sure you’d understand.

Next is James Franco, whose work I’m actually familiar with, as the Leading Man of the Year.  I’m pretty sure this is because everyone thinks he’s going to get an Oscar for 127 Hours. Has anyone seen that?  From what I’ve read, it’s pretty gruesome and also not that great.  Whatever, GQ is about ten years too late anyway.  Remember Freaks and Geeks?  Exactly.

Finally, Stephen Colbert is the Patriot of the Year, and this is by far my favorite.  I don’t understand how one could not love Stephen Colbert, and I might go as far as to say that he deserves higher honors, such as the sole GQ cover or perhaps something of the Nobel variety.

What do you guys think about GQ’s list?  Do you have cruel words for me because of my Drake ignorance?  Are there men who have been tragically overlooked?  Tell me all about it, guys.

According to sources close to Jessica Simpson, girlfriend’s in such a frenzy to tie the knot with her boyfriend – the one that I still have not remembered a name, nor do I feel so inclined to Google it right now – before ex-husband Nick Lachey marries Vanessa Minnillo, and she’s willing to rush to fit everything in before Christmas in order to ‘win.’

We’re looking at a dual Christmas wedding here, guys.

According to friends of the blushing bride-to-be:

“She wants to beat Nick to the altar. She knows that it is going to be tough to pull everything together on such short notice, so it might have to be a New Years wedding. In any case, she wants the focus to be on her wedding. She doesn’t want her wedding to be the aftermath of his.”

Not only is Jessica allegedly pulling out all the stops in order to beat Nick and Vanessa to the altar, she’s also looking at dropping quite a considerable sum on the wedding, too, in an effort to upstage her ex’s nuptial plans:

“It will be big and elaborate. She’ll spare no expensive for fear that Nick and Vanessa will outdo her. She’s already starting planning everything and has every family member working on her big day.”

… This sounds like it’s going to end well. And incidentally, if you haven’t heard, Jessica is currently refusing to sign a pre-nup agreement with her boytoy, because it’s just not all that romantic, I guess. (And for all of you caught unaware of her previous marriage and it’s intricacies, she didn’t sign one with Nick Lachey, either, and he took her for 15 million.)

I hope none of this is true, and I really hope that Jess is smarter than most people give her credit for, but I’ll lay it down for you: the pre-nup thing really has me concerned, I’m not gonna lie.

That ‘someone’ being Dave Barnes, whom I’ve never heard of, but he’s pretty alright.

And the song? Totally adorable. I will be buying this on iTunes because I am a Christmas-loving freak. The video? Though this goes against every single minuscule fiber of my very being – deep breath – I actually love the video. I think Jennifer Love Hewitt is totally adorable in it, if a bit over the top, and her cheeseball boyfriend, Alex Beh, is the perfect complement.

What did you guys think of the video? Am I coming over to the dark side, praising Jennifer Love Hewitt? Is it just the spirit of the upcoming holiday that’s got me so entranced (because that’s happened before, don’t you know.)?

Thank God that not everyone who owns a television votes, am I right?!!?

Sarah Palin’s Alaska premiered last night and the show set record ratings for TLC.

From DeadlineHollywoodDaily:

The premiere of TLC’s Sarah Palin’s Alaska last night drew 5 million viewers to become the most watched series premiere ever on the cable network. The documentary series starring the former Alaska governor and vice-presidential candidate and executive produced by Mark Burnett also set a record for a TLC series debut in households with a 3.5 rating. Its 18-49 delivery was 1.6 million. Sarah Palin’s Alaska posted triple-digit rating gains vs. the network’s primetime average in the 9 PM slot, where it faced NBC’s Sunday Night Football, ABC’s Desperate Housewives and CBS’ Undercover Boss.

Are people just tuning in for the freak show, or does anyone actually give a shit about what Sarah Palin has to say about the great state of Alaska? How many people live in Alaska, BTW? Anywhere near 5 million? No, just about 700,000. So we can’t blame them. Shit.

Who watched this last night? SHOW YOUR FACE, PALIN SUPPORTERS.
