Have you seen this video yet? Probably not. There wasn’t a huge amount of hubbub around it ’til it started pissing parents off, so there you have it. Guess it mustn’t have been all that great to begin with.
My take? The video’s really stupid. And, yup, so is the song if you’re wondering my take on that, too. Miley’s bumping and grinding in a white beater is painfully awkward, the synthesizers don’t quite take the nasal quality away from her voice entirely enough, and her chipmunk grill is overly-accentuated by the strobe lights in the discotheque.
Parents Television Council president Tim Winter claims that Miley’s sending the wrong message to today’s kids:
“It is unfortunate that she would participate in such a sexualized video like this one. It sends messages to her fan base that are diametrically opposed to everything she has done up to this point. Miley built her fame and fortune entirely on the backs of young girls, and it saddens us that she seems so eager to distance herself from that fan base so rapidly.”
I mean, yeah. She’s writhing pantsless on a bed and rubbing up on her chest and frankly, the girl’s got some great legs, but I think the whole thing comes off about as sexual as The Care Bears in Concert.
Whats up with her hands. She looks like the wicked witch from wizard of oz.
All I can focus on is her slumped back. Can this girl not stand/sit up straight? Even when she’s dancing, she looks like a hunchback. Every time she’s on the red carpet, she ruins whatever dress she’s in because she cannot. stand.up.straight.

what’s with her hair? She looks like she got electrocuted, and her clothes are absolutely ridiculous, like she’s trying to be the next Lady Gaga, but no one likes a copy cat. Plus, it’s like she’s trying to be slutty now. Is she even legal yet? Can’t she wait until she’s at least 18 years old to throw out sexual videos so they aren’t banned as kiddie porn? She needs voice lessons, dance lessons, and basically over-all life lessons. The only reason she’s famous is because she has a rich one-hit-wonder daddy who has connections.

I’m sorry but the message that most people are missing is that Miley gets off on music. She is not slutty for men or people. She dances provocatively because the beat makes her feel alive. Who cares if she’s 17 or 12 or 96! The song implies that she has strong feelings about music in general and is in love with her art. “Is it love or is it art”. Madonna’s “like a virgin” seems more sluttier and about sex than this video is.
Some people are saying that her clothes are waaay out of date and what is with her hair???? well, i think she was going for
an 80’s pop divaish look for parts of the video. If she wasn’t, well then that is what i took out of it. I don’t think she is trying to copy Lady Gaga as some have suggested. It doesn’t look like she can dance that well, but who cares, her music has really improve. I was reminded of Shakira’s She-Wolf when Miley was making the almost Michael Jackson like hand jestures from thriller. I wouldn’t have a problem if this was my daughter, except to tell her to make a more interesting video cuz this was a little boring.
