Have you guys heard about Clear Blue Tuesday? It’s a movie musical about 9/11, and it’s coming out on Friday in a few select theatres. When I first heard about it, I was like “oh no,” because I thought it sounded like a musical about the actual events that took place on September 11, and there is just no way that’s going to be well received right now. But it turns out it’s just about the effect it had on people’s lives in the years following the attacks, so that’s pretty whatever.
The thing is though, the trailer looks really, really shitty. So now I’m like “oh no” again, because there are going to be people who refuse to hear a bad word about it, and even people who will support it regardless of its quality because of the subject matter. And there are more people who are going to be so offended by it because of the subject matter. Which means there’s going to be much ado about a stupid, shitty film just because some misguided director wanted to be edgy. And that’s sad.
I think if anybody wants to be edgy and do a 9/11 musical, they should look at Osama: The Musical from Skins (do you guys watch Skins? Let’s talk about Skins.) In these kinds of situations, if you’re going to do something, you just have to commit.
What do you guys think? Do you fall into the “this is an outrage” camp, the “I’m going to blindly support this movie” camp, or the “this trailer looked really shitty and I’d rather talk about Skins or anything else” camp?
Now that True Blood and Mad Men have had their own much-discussed Rolling Stone covers, I’m going to ask you: Which do you like better and which show would you watch if you’d never seen an episode of either show and just had these covers to base your decision on?
If you guys are into bitches singing (I am!) then this video should make you real happy.
Bjork was awarded the 2010 Polar Music Prize from Sweden’s King Carl XVI Gustaf. Previous winners include Pink Floyd and Joni Mitchell. It’s a big freakin’ deal over in Sweden.
To celebrate, they brought together a group of artists to cover some of Bjork’s most celebrated music. Robyn covered Hyperballad, Wildbirds and Peacedrums covered Human Behavior (my jam), Ane Brun coverd Joga… Essentially, it was a very special night for fans of Bjork and music fans in general.
Katy Perry was snapped last night in Paris while making her way to dinner and I’m not too sure how I feel about the blue frock she was seen wearing last night. Part of me can see that it’s pretty and that the simple cut is flattering to her figure, the other part of me wants to know why she’s wearing the backdrop I had my second grade school picture taken in front of. Or a map of deep space.
There’s something very 90s about this fabric that’s not sitting well with me. Am I crazy?
Did you know Megan Fox had a career before Transformers? Yeah, color me surprised, too. Fox, who worked with the Olsen sisters back in 2001 on one of their productions called Holiday in the Sun, recently interviewed and discussed the Olsen twins (for some reason) and claimed that working with the two was weird, and that the girls were “socially awkward.” Megan also intimates that both Mary-Kate and Ashley are “crazy,” and claims that they have phobias:
“They’re nice girls. The first time I had ever been around someone really famous was them. We were kids, I was about 15 and so were they … I saw how awkward socially they were with large groups of people because they had been famous their whole lives and looked at their whole lives and I didn’t understand why anyone would be like that. I had no understanding about why you would shut down and be afraid and have phobias, but as it happens to you you sort of develop them and become crazy.”
Um, OK. They might be a little eccentric (God, am I really defending the Olsen twins?), but if you don’t shut the fuck up, Megan, they’ll do something “crazy” and buy your soul. I mean, every billionaire makes bad investments sometimes, you know?
More photos of Megan Fox and the Olsen girls in Holiday in the Sun — a movie I did not see.
TMZ has scored some exclusive photos of America’s Hottest Couple (ahem), and they are just as good as you’d expect them to be. I mean, it looks like Jesse’s put on some eat-yourself-sick-because-your-cash-cow’s-gone pounds, and it kind of looks like he’s trying to substitute his ex-wife with what’s really just a poor man’s Sandra Bullock, but hey. Everyone’s gotta just do their thing, right? Jeez.
I would like to tell you that the term “retard” is very offensive to me. I am not offended because I ASSUME it would offend someone who has mental retardation. I am offened on how the word came to...
I am not offended that Rosie has a fear or anxiety of LP. I feel that when someone knows very little about things and or people they tend to be anxious. Think about it if you had never been around someone...
