A photo of Beyonce at the Tony Awards

So Beyonce’s dad, Matthew Knowles, had a love child a few months back.  There’s been a paternity test, court-ordered child support ($8,000 a month), all the usual occurrences.  Matthew and Beyonce’s mom, Tina, are still in the midst of a divorce.  That’s all well and good.

But let’s not forget that Beyonce’s father is also her manager, and that’s where some problems start popping up.  A music industry insider is saying that Beyonce isn’t speaking to her father because she’s so disgusted by his actions:

“Beyoncé was horrified to find out her dad cheated on her mom. She always looked up to him, and she is very close to her mom, so this has hit her really hard. She is refusing to speak to him, which is making things difficult where it comes to managing her career. Some people at Columbia now think it would be better to move him aside.”

If Beyonce did “move him aside,” I bet it would make paying child support a lot harder.  And, you know, there’s the whole aspect of losing your family.

There’s another worry though, and it’s for Beyonce.  Some people are saying that since her father has been her manager from Destiny’s Child to “Single Ladies” and everything in between, Beyonce might not stand a chance without him.  I wouldn’t go that far – she’s Beyonce, there have to be dozens of talented managers who would kill for her – but I don’t know.

What are your thoughts?

A photo of Lindsay Lohan

Lindsay Lohan’s next movie is Inferno, that Linda Lovelace biopic.  I don’t you if you know a lot about Linda Lovelace’s past, but it was pretty fucked up.  Jezebel has posted select pages from the script, and this film is going to be unsettling to say the very least.  If you’re even remotely sensitive to things like child abuse, domestic abuse, and sexual humiliation, maybe don’t read the following excerpts.

A photo of Emma Watson

Emma Watson has been pretty busy lately.  She just wrapped up filming for the last Harry Potter movie, she was in this month’s issue of Vanity Fair, and she just finished up her freshman year at Brown University.  She also has a new boyfriend – George Craig, frontman of One Night Only and fellow Burberry model (he’s the guy that was in that photo shoot with her).  Emma even made an appearance in One Night Only’s latest music video, “Say You Don’t Want It.”  The song is actually pretty good, and Emma and George came up with the Lady and the Tramp theme together (super cute!).

Now Emma’s at the Glastonbury Festival.  After taking a moment to be completely jealous as I have every time I read about the Glastonbury Festival, I saw that she looks incredible.  The shorts, the boots, the bustier – all of it, fantastic.  It’s one thing to be really attractive, but to be really attractive and also aware of how to dress and how to handle yourself?  That’s special.

A photo of Katy Perry and Russell Brand

While Katy Perry was doing an interview on The Graham Norton Show, she made a few key slips.  When asked about her relationship with Russell Brand, she said

“Life’s never dull with him, that’s why I married him!”

When the audience started reacting to that statement, she quickly corrected herself, saying “That’s why I’m marrying him!”  She claimed it was just a slip of the tongue, but a little bit later she referred to Russell’s mom as her “mother-in-law.”

What do you guys think?  It’s certainly not unbelievable:  the two got engaged after dating for just four months, so it’s feasible that they wouldn’t want to wait very long before taking that next step.  Though they have been making some pretty public wedding plans

The interview airs on Monday, so I guess we can get a better idea of what’s going on then.

A photo of Jessica Alba

When Jessica Alba heard about a woman in China who was planning on having plastic surgery to reconstruct her face in order to look like her, she was quick to give her input.  The woman wanted the surgery after a rough break-up, apparently thinking that if she looked like her ex-boyfriend’s favorite actress, Jessica Alba, he’d want to get back with her.  Then Jessica made the statement that

“I think you should never have to change yourself like that. If somebody loves you, they’ll love you no matter what.”

The woman has since decided against the surgery, saying

“I think it’s great that Jessica is so concerned about me. Her words also played an important role in my decision.”

This is a sweet story, I guess, in the sense that Jessica Alba was able to help a girl out and give her some positive advice.  It’s just sad that this woman let herself get so torn up about some guy breaking up with her that she was actually planning on undergoing surgery to change the way she looks.  This kind of extreme action isn’t unheard of (remember Alexa Joel?), but come on now, ladies, at the end of the day, he’s just a dude that didn’t want to be with you anyway.  Have some ice cream, get some therapy if you need it, and let it go.
