After her SCRAM bracelet went off at an afterparty for the MTV Movie Awards, Lindsay had to go to court to explain herself and take some urine tests and so on and so forth. Lindsay claimed that someone spilled a drink on her ankle (I was going to make fun of that, but then I remembered that I’ve definitely had the same thing happen to me and now it’s not funny so much as it is sad). It turns out that she was telling the truth, because according to Lindsay’s lawyer, her urine tests were negative.
So she’s hasn’t been drinking, and it looks like she’s going to be caught up with her alcohol education classes by her hearing on July 6th. Since she’s been doing everything she’s supposed to, she might not have to go to jail. And that’s absurd. Since when does a few weeks of not breaking a handful of specific laws make up for a few years of rampant drug use and DUI’s? Oh, that’s right, when you starred in a Parent Trap remake twelve years ago and released a shitty album a few years after that. Looks like you lucked out, Lindsay, that’s a really specific loophole.

Hum…I think the whole “if you drink you go to jail” thing doesn't work very well on alcoholics. :S With drug addicts neither. They should receive treatment, but what do you do when it doesn't work and they don't commit themselves to treatment?
I am not talking about drinking and driving because, in this case, the drinking person would be endangering other people too [and should be arrested], but, seriously, going to jail for being an alcoholic? Is it right? What do you people think?

i would just like to say that this is the most amazing picture of lindsey i've ever seen. and when i say most amazing i clearly mean most entertainingly unattractive.
This is bullshit. She was tested eight freakin' hours later. Whatever alcohol she consumed (and you know she did) had already left her system. So once again, she gets away with it.
Here's what drives me batty. I know that here where I live, if you're on probation for a DUI, you are NOT allowed to even go to a bar, let alone consume alcohol. I mean, yeah. You can be sitting at your house getting shitfaced and no one who matters will ever know, but if you're out at a bar/club/party and for whatever reason get in trouble and it comes out you're on probation–immediate violation. I don't know if that's just around here or if it's just something a judge comes up with for certain cases, but it really needs to be enforced on someone like Lindsay. I'm surprised after all the shit she's pulled something like that hasn't.
Most addicts and alcoholics have had their share of legal problems already. Not saying all, but most have. And if they haven't, chances are they will. And most of the time this happens waaaay before treatment is even sought out.
In this particular case, the one thing she hasn't really had to deal with is actual jail time (minus her, what? 45 minutes?). She hasn't really had to face reality or deal with the real consequences. And her “treatment” was more of a spa vacay than anything. Complete with paparazzi photo ops.
Not saying that jail is the answer to all addicts/alcoholics. Sometimes I can sympathize depending on the situation. But this is not one of them.
Well, as far as I can tell, she is no different than most everyone else in the United States these days. Normal people are getting away with the same shit day after day, you just don't see it on “gossip” sites.
blood tests are the only reliable tests for booze since it leaves the body so quickly. Urine is very unreliable…especially hours later
